Hi again:

Sorry to bother you guys again. I am a new player to paintball.

I am thinking about GETTING ADOC RED DOT SIGHT for the 98 C that i will be buying.

:) Will my 12 volt hopper get in the way of the sight. I know its a newbie question :)

I guess the sight goes on top of the gun, the proshop is doing this for me. Will the hopper block the line of sight for the red dot Sight.

Also, is the sight like looking into one half of a binocular. Are laser sights illegal. Mine is not a laser sight, but some people said a laser sight is illegal on paintball fields.

Thanks for your time.

first of all, are you getting a new barrel with the gun, or using stock? if u are using stock barrel, dont bother with the sight until u upgrade.

second, make sure u buy good paint. if u god crap balls, no sight in the world can make them fly straight

now for the sight. as for laser sights, that all depends on where you play, but its not uncommon for them to be illegal. a red dot is not a laser, b/c it projects within the sight itself, no light leaves the assembly. also, the sight is not like looking into binoculars. the sight just shows you whats already there with a red dot on it. if u want magnification, u got to get a scope. finally, unless u got one hell of a side chamber on that 12v hopper, it wont get in the way. the 98's hopper arm is offset to the side of the gun for that exact reason, you cant aim with a hopper in ur way

my 98 c with a big daddy and a chamber works great with the red dot as long as im using good paint. i normally use big balls, theyre cheap and good quality. u could prolly get away with pmi, but dont get brass eagle or proballs (but dont buy crap paint regardless of what ur shooting)

hope this helped

One option you can use, which is popular with a lot of centerfeed guns, is a sight like the Dye IZON. You basically look at your target with one eye, look at the sight with the other eye and your brain blends the two images. You see a red dot on your target.

I've heard good things about the adco Swifty sight. Instead of being a red dot its an occluded sight. It allows you to keep both eyes focused and kinda projects a dot for you to see instead of having to focuse through a sight. Because its so different it takes alittle getting used too though. The best thing about this sight IMO is that it requires no batteries, it uses sunlight to project the dot(only visible to you), this can also be the worst thing about the sight though since it doesn't work well in low light conditions, but the person I know who uses one says its not really a problem since you don't usually play after dusk. The one other plus about this sight is that it can be used on a gun with a powerfeed since it doesn't require you to look directly through it.

I am thinking about getting an adco sureshot...do you know if it is similar to the dye sight, where you have both eyes open, and it creates an optical illusion of the dot being on your target without it projecting anything? The adco sureshot, if it is similar to the dye one, is the cheapest alternative I've found that looks semi-decent quality...Thanks for your time..Oh, and will I need a sight rail for installation, and if so, what kind..(Dovetail?)

The Adco is defenately not worth 80 bucks. Go to Wal Mart or Galyans, they have a Tasco 30mm "RedDot" Sight. I have it, got it for 30 bucks at galyans. That thing can take some serious abuse! Its glare-resistant, fog-proof, shock-proof, and water-proof, and if you accidentally bump it, you wount lose alignment like most red dot sights will. Its one heck of a deal for 30 bucks

Check it out here (http://www.tasco.com/products_display.asp?productID=202&familylineID=47&familytypeNAME=RED+DOT&usagetypeID=20&usagetypeNAME=Red+Dots+and+Pistol+Scopes&producttypeID=3&producttypeNAME=RIFLESCOPES)

I'll vouch for the Tasco Red Dot. I got a 25mm on mine (1x), and it's taken a beating. I've gotten nailed at least twice on that red dot, and it still works beautifully. And mine was cheap as well. I think I paid $25 for it. A very sturdy red dot...

The Adco Sure Shot can work like reflex sight. Just look at the red-dot with your right eye, and your target with your left eye. It takes some getting used to. Especially when your eyes are fighting for dominance.

If the sureshot and tasco are similar to the Dye Izon Red Dot Sight, then I want them...I wanted something that uses the same technique as the Dye Izon, and the adco sureshot I have found on pbgear.com for 30...so do you know if the same sighting technique is used in the tasco, sureshot as compared to the Dye Izon Red Dot Sight? Thanks again

The same technique can be used for all red dot sights. The bonus of the Tasco and others similar to it is that you can also sight through them like a scope but without magnification. I prefer the two eyes open technique myself since it gives you an almost unlimited field of view. Here's a pic of my 30mm BSA. Don't get larger than 30mm or it will be obscured by the hopper slightly...

kingtime69 is using a Lapco direct feed which moves the hopper up and to the right. With a stock elbow the hopper will be much closer to the sight but it's shouldn't get in the way.

You guys have been a great help...now what I need to know is: If I am getting the adco sureshot (I've seen it for 30 and less) do you know if I also need a sight rail for the tippman 98 custom? How about the tasco? Thanks!
