ok,ok,ok i have a tippmann A-5 and yesterday i had some time on my hands so i was wondering how to shorten the trigger pull on my gun. so i was looking on the net for ways to shorten the trigger pull (not to be confused with lightening it because i have already done the thing with the magnets and the crazy glue) so i found 2 ways to do this. one of them involved cutting the sear spring and making a trigger stop and the other involved putting tape on the tip of the trigger. since the one i found that had to do with cutting the sear spring wasn't clear enough for me because i didn't want to cut it too short or else it would go full auto on me and i would be screwed and i didn't want to tamper with my new double trigger so i did the second one and i took some tape and put it on the tip of my trigger. what i think this did was when you put the gun back together it pushes the trigger halfway down for you so you don't need to make a trigger stop and you don't have slack or anything. so what i was wondering is did i take the easy way out? and would i have been better off cutting the spring and making the trigger stop? if so can someone please tell me how short to cut the sear spring because i don't wanna mess up my gun

thanks in advance

 good job, you have discovered trigger mods.

If it shortened the pull, then no, you didn't take the easy way out.

I took the easy way out, I'm to lazy to take apart my gun to do the trigger mods.

but would it have made it noticeably shorter if i did cut the sear spring and made the trigger stop then the way i did it?

if u cut the sear spring, how is it going to latch onto the pins?

Doing the other trigger mod also has more of chance to screw something up.

For example, you could've cut the spring too short, or you could've broken an internal part.

No, it's not worth it for you to do thing other mod.

ohhh nvm i get it, well i didnt want to make so short it would do that but i heard if you shortened it enough it would make the pull shorter

the sear spring is what is giving the sear tension to move back and fourth... correct? or are we talking about a diff spring

im almost positive we are talking about the same spring but prehaps different guns eryk i just heard if you cut the sear spring the pull becomes lighter. and of course it is what gives the sear tension which is why i didnt want to cut it too short that it didnt have enough tension

ok, if you cut it... it would be kinda risky, cause you dont know how much tension you are taking off... if its too much, then the sear itself may not catch the bolt each time.

if you have a spare, then feel free to try

exactally why i did it with the tape. the only way i would cut the spring is if i knew exactally how short to cut it. but still no one besides ace has really given me any answer to my original question which was would the extra work of cutting the spring and making the trigger stop pay off in the end?

you could probably go to your local ace hardware and get a better spring, you wont even have to do any cutting. thats what i did, i bought 2 springs they were a little bigger than the stock ones, but they work fine. and my action is faster and smoother. and trigger pull is much better. Woo hoo!
