GET RID OF THE MODEL 98! They should burn in hell!!! The compact would be ok, its its tricked out fairly, the cocker and bushies will do great while they are on the right settings, pressure, etc. So just GET RID OF THE MODEL 98!

First of all, get rid of the two blowback markers.
Second, how long has your team been together? How often do you practice? How have you done at previous tournaments?

For the record.
My team won 3 NPPL and GWS tournies with PROLITES.
The gun DOES NOT make the player.

'97, '98, and '99 Ontario Opens.

Like I said before, a gun DOES NOT make the player.

Forgot something, NPPL and GWS RECOGNIZED tournies. The wins up'd our ratings in the NPPL and GWS

But they werent official NPPL tourneys, were they? How well did you do in the REAL NPPL with those guns?
I agree that the gun does not make the player, but don't you want to go into a tourney with the best equipment you can afford? That extra little edge helps, especially in Speedball-type games, which almost ALL tournaments are exclusivley run on these days.

Take this into account, if the tourny increases your rankings, wouldn't you play? Thunderbay is not too far from alot of major tourny sights such as Chicago. At the '99 Open, over 70 teams took part in our division and alot of them are now household names. We have played in actual NPPL and GWS games and done quite well, thank you.

THE GUN DOESNT MAKE THE PLAYER! ive eliminated many people with my SE with autocockers, mags, impys, and one with an angel. as long as the guns are pretty tricked out and the players are good, then thats perfectly fine. maybe they cannot afford closed bolt or electro guns at this time. good luck in upcoming tourneys!

dood you guys are officially lame if you think they should be kicked off the team because they dont have $500 guns. how do you know that instead of spending all their money on gear, they acutually play and have alot of experience and will own you!!! you dont need an awesome gun to compete, it does help but if they have expereince and are good communicators and players, they will be fine with any gun.

i agree with venom. and plus without spyder and tippman, this sport wouldnt be as popular because these markers have gotten many ppl into paintball

haha that idiot says "get rid of the tippmann, and keep the compact! HAHAHAHAAHH
Shifty Capone
11-21-2001, 09:33 PM
well if they got rid o those they would have a kick arse 3 man team! :agree:

They can kick WITH the guns. How many times must I say it? GUNS DON'T MAKE THE PLAYER!
Unless you're saying that they are SO good that they don't even need paintball guns at ALL.

what if the players with the compact and tippman are just as good or even better than the players with the high end markers? then what?
DasBaldDog

Then the Tippmann and Spyder users will just have to adjust strategy. Sure they can't fire as fast but if you employ strategies and techniques that compensate for the slower rate of fire then it's all gravy (sorry thinking about lunch)

yeah hes right....the gun doesnt make the player.. it helps and all but you can still do good with an entry level gun like a spyder or tippman... Ive had my spyder for about 2 years and my team has entered 2 local tournies...2nd place in youth and 7th place in our first tournament which was novice....right now i have a cocker in the mail but thats because i plan on playing for a long time and now that im working at my field i will get much more play time in....although a good marker will help...a starter gun will do you fine with a few upgrades to get good performance out of it

i have a spyder SE with many upgrades. it shoots very fast and accurate. I'm going to sell it for a spyder Xtra and upgrade that. if you dont shoot as fast, you will be forced to aim more thus improving your aiming and accuracy

The M98 has a flatline, which is great for giving cover fire from the back. Even though his ROF is not as good, he can still help a great deal by backing off opponents from a safe distance while his teamates are moving forward. Even if he is just wasting paint on a bunker.
Why would you get rid of this advantage?
Besides, this thread is useless, how can we tell if you are going to win or not with the only info submited is your guns?

The M98 Flatline is a *horrible* gun to use in a speedball game, because the balls curve up rather than down. Also, they have been known to bounce quite often due to the backspin put on the ball.
You are better off getting rid of the flatline, and replacing it with a LAPCO, DYE, or SP barrel.

flatline: good for woodsball, bad for speedball.

Exactly.

Well, the speedball course at the feild I play it is pretty big. You can't hit someone from one end to the other. Flatlines work very well at our course.
assasin

at our course you can easily hit the opposition so flatlines are bad. at the woods course flatlines work aweome

On regular speedball courses - the ones used in tournaments -this is not the case.

It started as someone asking how well his team would do based on the equipment they had, and it turned into a debate over whether or not the gun makes the player, and is now moving to the relevance of the flatline barrel...

A very unoriginal name. Once you take into account it is the name of a model of Autococker, as well as a very generic team name.
And look, the subject has been changed again...

And when they realize you don't shoot black magics, they are going to be confused and frightend. Civilian casualties will be enourmous.

I think this thread's point has been made, forgive me but it must be shut, or I'm afraid enormous civilian casualties will also ensue.
