Went back to the International Amateur Open this year, and I was very disappointed. There was no where near as many vendors there this year, less fields, the planning and scheduling was all out of whack, and it was generally just down right boring. Yeah, I bought my new CP 1 Piece and NXe pack, and bought my brother his SP hat, but there was absolutely nothing to buy. At the 2003 IAO, there was so much stuff to buy, I didn't even know what I wanted to get. DYE wasn't there this year, and I heard guys talking that they weren't there because they lost or got stolen $14,000 last year or sumthing like that.
There was 1 plus to the whole tournament. WGP had a field setup, and they had a few Brimstone Smoke guys, Oliver from the TonTons, a dude from Aftershock, a few more guys from Team Nitro, and the Fallen Angels as refs. You paid to play with any guys you chose, $5 for 2 games, but your money went to the Pittsburgh Children's Hospital. It was a new style of play called "Penalty Box." There was a line of cones that ran across the 40 of each side of the field. From the 40 up to the 50, was a big zone. If you got shot in the "penalty" zone, you went to the penalty box. There were 2 air horns in the penalty zone, and if your teammate blew one of them, you got to come back into the game. But if you were shot outside the zone, you went to the deadbox...but here's the catch: you had to start with no paint in your hopper. When the game started, you had to load your hopper on the run. It was very interesting and entertaining to watch. The general public players were allowed to overshoot on the pros, which was very funny to see. There was also the "Submission" match. You started with a full hopper, the game starts, and you just unload on each other. There were no hits or outs, so the basic object was to shoot the living hell out of your opponent. When either player was out of paint, the game was over.
Ok. Im done with my :twocents:
