In a recent thread that got out of hand, there was some information relayed that military simulation style paintball was dying out. I am not posting this for any other reason than to make a point:
I have seen several new styled paintball guns that either replicate or have features that replicate that of real guns. I have seen paintball magazines with articles on milsim guns and play styles. There are after market companies that cater to milsim players.

I have posted many pics of the paintball gun PEC MASTER which is no longer made. I have modified many of them and some of you have liked the military look I added to them, while others did not.

I was wondering just how well one of my milsim style paintball guns would do on ebay if it was in fact a dying out style of playing. Look at the counter, look at the price it sold for, and compare to auctions on the other guns listed on ebay. Don't get me wrong, this gun is not fast like an Angel, Mag, Cocker, etc.. But it is well built, accurate, reliable, and is the style of paintball gun some people want. I do not believe that everyone who looked at it or bid on it is an out of control gun freak redneck.

I also received enough offers to modify other types of paintball guns (but I'm not going to) to start my own after market business. I don't believe even for a second that milsim paintball or guns will ever match the numbers of Tourney, Speed, or Rec, but I don't think it will ever go away either.

How much did it cost to actually buy the parts and then mod the marker?

I wish I could buy one but I don't have enough money.

With any luck, the tippmann carbine will go next, and we willnever see these negative media baits again.

I love recball. It's all I play. I have no interest in tournaments whatsoever. I have never been in the military or wanted to be. I play because I like to play. PLAY is the operative word here. I have fun when I play. I'm not playing for prizes or trophies. Tourney only players have something at stake when they play. If they play with chrome guns (yeah, GUNS that SHOOT paintballs) and only play on postage stamp fields, that is their business, not mine, and what I think of it is my business. I like realistic looking paintball GUNS and admire the skill it takes to make them look the way Viper can and that is my business too. I think that woods/ scenario/big games are far from dying out and I hope that people keep building their tanks, mortars, bazookas, and M16 looking GUNS and bringing them to those GAMES and to those who don't agree, just stay away from those kinds of GAMES. If we want to play that way, it's none of YOUR business. If you want to play your SPORT your way, it's none of my business. If you want to tell me I am this or that because I enjoy what I enjoy, then here is some business for you..........KISS MY *****. Thank you.

P.S. Viper, if you enjoy making those replicas, keep on making them and using them. I just have a M98C with flatline and collapsable stock, but I may do a few mods myself, but that PEC Master is a work of art! Did you say you had some for sale?

You can buy a m-4 style paintball gun. I saw it in a i&i sports cataloge. But do fields let you play with them?

By golly, you can play at my field with them! If it will pass chrono, you can play with it here. http//:www.smakzone.com (http://www.smakzone.com)

In my opinion, yes, milsim guns are slowly disapparing from mainstream paintball. But there will always be a market for them somewhere. Some folks like that sorta thing, but I personally hate them. The only way to totally get rid of them would be for a law to pass that bans from public use all non-real guns that look like real guns, which will not likely happen.

Boy, that last sentence sounded a bit weird...

So, why do you hate them, Sloth?

I would have to agree about BE, but if you think Tippmann sucks, you are an idiot. FOR THE PRICE, Tippmann makes the best gun on the market.

I disagree. Kingman and PMI both make markers that are equally if not better than Tippmanns for around the same price. Now I'm not bashing Tippmann, my friend has a 98C, and it's pretty nice (love the trigger pull!) I just think your statemet was a little off.

To me, durability is a major plus and who makes a tougher marker than Tippmann?

IMHO I would say PEC who made the Combat and MASTER gun/markers I like so much. I have been in manufacturing for over 22 years now, and I have never seen a better made gun. I'm not saying it's got more features or is the best by any means, but it is by far the most durable. It is almost totally metal, either machined and or cast/machined aircraft aluminum. The walls of it are thick, very heavy duty. There is also high strength steel and stainless steel parts inside. The only non metal parts I can think of are the Delrin bolt, and the front stock, and hand grip. Even the ball stop is CNC machined aluminum. These things are as tough as you would ever reasonably need. That is the main reason why they went out of business. They built a great high quality made marker/gun, but it was more expensive than the lesser quality material made ones. They couldn't compete with plastic and cheaper die casts...

i agree that pec master guns are well built so are icd guns also as are tippmann tippmann is by far the best blowback on the market the trigger is soo short and light i can get 12 bps out of my gun and the way the model 98 is made you could drill a 1/2 inch hole right thru the side of the baclk and it would work it but it would be less effint though the m98 is the best gun out there it has enough upgrades and for some reason it never breaks i local field ran by idiots lube the markers with wd40 all the time for the last year and they still work they clean them 2 times a year and by far the m98 has the best feel to me personaly out of any gun made seriously it feels better than angel its not better but it feels better

I would like to try out one of those PEC's some day. They sound like quite a gun. Too bad they went out of business. I nearly bought one once for $150 almost new, but knowing that it might be hard to find parts made me balk. If I get a chance again, I may next time. I wonder if a fellow might get hold of the tooling they used to make the PEC guns. Who knows, with the right marketing strategy a small manufacturer who would work his niche might do ok with a quality milsim. BTW it's too bad that "elTwitcho" had to be a jerk and use his moderator "powers" to close that other thread. I would say he is a bit to opinionated to be a moderator.

Sounds like you passed up quite a bargain... I would have bought it, even though I have 5 of my own... The neat things about these guns/markers is the simplicity of their inner design. Very few moving parts, and what is in there is way heavy duty.

The only parts to wear out or breakdown that I could see are the o-rings and seals (which is any guns prob) and of course the main valve. This valve however has a lifetime warranty, which I have been told by Action Markers (the new PEC company) will be supported by them.

On your last note.. I couldn't agree more....

Twitch closed the other thread because it was getting too flamey. The arguments in the other thread were getting outta hand, and it's HIS JOB to close threads that get like that.

No I closed the last thread because as you have just proven again, some of you people are unable to read. When i said no more flaming. You flamed again. When I said that if it continued I'd close it you flamed again. When I said it was the last warning you flamed again. I closed the thread because of the flaming involved, so don't open your mouth when neither of you two have any idea what you're talking about. I've been here since December of last year, and I've had time to see how the forum works. I've been modding since march and have had alot of experiences in keeping threads under control. I tried my best and the thread got out of control so I did what anyone else would do, I closed it. I've been pretty lenient, alot more lenient than I need to be so I suggest the both of you think long and hard before posting something you don't know anything about. This matter is closed, so assuming you can actually read the message I just wrote, you are not to bring it up again, and that's final.

http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Field/4608/mp5.html this web site makes some bad ***** guns. I guess i'll speak my peace, if someone wants to go out and buy a military looking gun the go ahead, who cares? Personaly i would want a gun thats strong enought for me not to have to worry about it, also a gun that i wont have to worry about scratching the paintjob. Tippmann is pretty good, but nowhere near kingman, Brass Eagle just plain out sucks.

"and that's final." If you are going to moderate, why don't you moderate and keep your opinions to yourself? Especially when your attitude is that anyone who doesn't agree with you is wrong, period. Your definition of flaming is any statement you don't agree with. I wasn't a poster in "that other thread" but I can read as well as anyone, probably better than a lot of people here, judging by the grammar, and YOU, twitchy boy, flamed as hard as anybody. As a matter of fact, there wasn't any flaming going on until statements like "The guy looks like a flaming homosexual." and "the most clear way to say "I take it in the arse. So go right ahead and dress fruity" and "personally would go after this person every game for looking so stupid." and
"I consider paintball to be more a version of tag than it is a war simulation, and anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot. Shame on you, for having played our sport and still being so ignorant." were made. Who made those statements? YOU did, Twitchy. You are RESPONSIBLE for STARTING the flaming. Of course, this will fall on deaf eyes when it comes to you, and you are the all powerful MODERATOR. As for Sloth, he just sounds like Twitchy's little "yes man".

Oh my god, what is wrong with you? You have something to say, Use a freaking PM and send it to me, because now I can't keep this thread open with you making attacks AGAIN. One more time, you were told to keep to the topic at hand, you couldn't do so, so here goes another thread right down the crapper.
