View Full Version : Question about where to go next?

As of right now I have a Tippmann 98c with:
-Flatline
-Double Trigger
-Rocket Cock II
-And some mods

And the way I was think about going for a while is to buy a regulator for it (I was thinking about a palmer). Along with that I would A/S my CO2 tank.

But I was looking into N2 lately, and had some questions about it, and which way I should go.

-If I a N2 tank will it be the same performance or more than if I went with a reg and a/s for my CO2? Or would I need a reg for it to be more in performance?

-How many shots do the N2 tanks get out of them? More or less than CO2?

-I was wondering since N2 tanks just use compressed air, it there's a hook up to refill it with a air compressor? and if not how much does it cost to refill them?

-Are they any more dangerous than CO2 tank?

-And what all do I have to buy to make in fit my gun?

Thank you so very much,
Josh

A reg is a great upgrade. HPA will work on the marker as it is now, but getting the lp kit will make it more effecient. HPA will perform almost the same as a/sed CO2, just more consistant.

heres what id do in your situation

buy a nice electric hopper, an empire reloader is a perfect match for 98s

next i would by the reg and AS a 20oz, both will be good to have when uve gotten HPA. They will perform almost as well, however, you will have less shots to a tank (assuming your buying 68CI+ and 4.5kPSI), it still wont be as clean, and you may recieve a shot of liquid c02 everyonce in a while. The C02 also wont perform anywhere near as well in cold weather conditions.

Alot of people dont feel the need for secondary regs, but they will help even with a very consistent HPA tank.

I would also look into a good cheap conventional barrel, a CP1 pc would be perfect.

Some sound advice above.

M98's love hpa. My buddies cocker died before we even played a round at a field one day so he got a totally stock m98c rental to use. He hooked it up to his hpa tank and it shot very well considering this poor gun was probably tossed in the swamp and run over by a few trucks. I've used a hpa tank on my tippmann with no reg (the expansion chamber does nothing for it according to tippy gods fyi) and it shot more accurate than co2 b/c of consistency. If I used my tippy more I would put a reg on it.

Happy St. Patricks Day!

You will get about 1000-1200 shots off of a 68/45k tank. Always get HPA if you can. It will especially benefit you if you live in a colder climate.

Alright, I think I'll buy a reg, and a/s a tank and play it out from there. Thank you for all of your posts.

One of the Questions I had before about whether you can use a air compressor to fill up the N2 tank I really interested in. Is that how they get filled up, or do they use some special air?

I used to have a tippmann 98 custom, i sold it and bought a cocker. Best desision i have ever done. I got a boomstick with it, its so much more accurate and you dont have to worry about blowback gass going up into the hopper. Not fastest gun, but who needs to be fast if it shoots straight. If you want speed on it get an eblade. DO IT! YOU WONT BE DISEPOINTED!

Well, typhoon, that was fairly irrelavent. Anyway, With 98 customs, C02 isn't the worst thing to have. Personally, I think you would be much better off buying an anti-syphon or expansion chamber and spending the money you would save over an HPA tank to upgrade other things. With guns, it is all personal preference.

you can't use the air compressor in your garage. It doesn't pressureize the air enough. You gotta use one at a field or shop.

Don't listen to the goober who said expansion chamber or the cocker guy. They are trolling for nubs.

Actually, I was merely putting in my two cents. That is what ~I~ would do. As I said, it is personal preference. In regards to it being more dangerous than CO2, It probably is, but chances of a miss-hap are very tiny if you take good care of your tank.

Thanks for all of your posts, I think I'm going to buy a female palmer reg and get my tank a/sed.

btw have any of you guys ever a/sed a tank before. I don't want to do it my self and have the tank blow up or something. I was think about having ballistics do it for me if it doesn't cost that much.

I was wondering if I buy a used a/sed tank on ebay, if it is easy or possible to set it up for my gun, or would you have to buy that kit again?

Technically you could use the compressor in your garage if its a screw compressor....

Yes but the tank has to be capable of filling 3000, 4500 or 5000 PSI. It not then you can't.

Doesnt WGP make some kit that will allow you to fill your tanks with a regular compressor? HAHA typhoons still using a mach 404 with his cocker

Anti-syphon your tank and look into HPA and a good reg like a palmers stabilizer.
