That was a division of the Jax warriors.....like a C team or something, not the "Real" team.......Tom and the other guys at AGD are working it out.

I haven't seen too many of the mags at tourys either...although when I do, its always a RT or an RT Pro. Alot of times when I go to play the indoor arena up in the city, people always ask "what the hell is that?" pointing at my gun. I think its just that a mag is kinda rare. Take pride in owning one; a cocker is a frequent sight...

Well, I think with the big teams, they have team airsmiths or just get the markers fixed for free by the various companies at the tournies.
If you don't have to know anything about a Cocker, and you have a guy on-hand that will fix it and time it for you, wouldn't you shoot one?

I don't really think I would, just cuz they cost too much to upgrade and still have too many parts, even though they look a lil' better than the mags. Well, in some cases, but no cocker looks better than my mag.:agree:So, guys, I really want to know though, what makes cockers SOOO much better? Not like they have the maintenance of mags. I just timed myself, I can fully disassemble and put my mag back together in 9 mins. 52 secs., can yo udo that with a cocker? Not likely.

9 minutes? you are a tad slow there

Yes, I know. My valve wasn't screwed all the way, and I am a weakling, so I had to spend two mintues on my clamp turning it tite. Well, maybe I'll wear gloves next time, without that it probably would've been like 6.

See, I think the big boys don't have to worry about upgrading parts and timing. They just hand it over to the team airsmith and it's done for them. Maintence: done. Upgrades: they are already all done. Timing: figured out by somebody else.

alotta teams have mags.....
after a short time cockers are really easy to learn, they just have a lot more parts then mags. I like cockers because there is no blow back, but its a lot bulkier then a mag so its not a "front mans" gun (but I still use it up front). Mag are simple period. there are not that many parts so you wont be able to screw it up (almost always). they are smaller and the ideal "front man" gun.
I love both the cocker and the mag.

My idea as to why people don't really use mags in tournaments is that they are quite violent when it comes to paint... I cheesed at least one ball per game using RPS Flash with both my 14" Boomy and 8.5" Eliminator at a tournament last Sunday. Hell, my gun is pretty :) . Just wait until I get my black body, Equation barrel set, KAPP drop-forward...

Well maybe you can't dissasemble an entire cocker in 9 min. , but why would you want to? On a cocker the only thing you need to take out and clean is the bolt and the bolt chamber. Rarely will you have to take the valve out.
I think one thing that is definatly better than a mag is you can field strip it with out degassing it in like 2 seconds. You just can't do that with a mag.
Don't get me wrong, I love mags. I just chose a cocker because of the small things that are better. Thats what it is all about, getting every advantage you can get on the field.
Plus there is that intimidation factor. People go OOOH NO he has an autococker and will shoot me from across the field through a tiny crack or somthin'. We all know that there isn't realy a whole lot of accuracy or disstance between guns, but not every body at the field might, and I'm not going to tell them.
Oh ya, alot of people at one of the local fields here have mags, mostly cause the owner likes em though.

Mags are a little rough on paint. And if i had a team airsmith, I would probably shoot a cocker to if I played back.

well, a lot of people play front with cockers too even though they seem bulky to me. if i had the choice, i would go mag (lighter, more compact, great for front guys)

Yah, I'm guessing its the slightly higher percentage of chops than with other markers. I know they don't chop a lot, but if chops can be avoided or eliminated that is a very good quality.

Another silly one mag vs. cocker argument. I feel the need to contribute.
Yes, you can take the valve out on a mag without de-gassing the gun. I now do mine all the time. One screw, hit the slide check (kudos to Venom Toxic Toys) and bam...the whole valve is in my hand. But maybe that takes 5 seconds instead of 2....
my mag simple does not break paint. Period. Stock internals, no breaks.
I plan on getting a cocker or a bushy over the summer. The intimidation of a cocker though? Where I play, 65% of the guns are cockers. Everybody has them. The little kids have them. When I show with my mag, half the people don't even know what it is. Intimidation comes from your playing style; your kill count. The best guys I have seen play use strategy to win, not the distance they can lob paint. The owner of the field plays with a pump, yet he by far has the most kills per game. That, is intimidation.
Why do I want a cocker? The complexity, the sound, the looks. Its definitly a cool gun. But the whole idea of comparing it to another gun is bogus.

i posted something like this in the automags.org forum............they said something that made a hell of a lot of sense..................Cockers can use aftermarket products better than a mag can right? Well, its easier to get a sponser if you own a cocker since almost all companies make cocker parts, when only a couple make mag parts and anyways stock mag parts are better than non stock. So i guess cockers are used more because the sponsers parts are in em, with mags its not the same

so you're saying that a team with all mags is less likely to get sponsered and go pro than a team with all autocockers?

no thats not what he is saying. You don't get sponsored by what you are currently using. Once you get sponsored the sponsor chooses what you will use. (in most cases)
