I am planning on gettin a Timmy soon and was wondering about regulators. I know im gettin one no question about that. I was wondering what would be the best choice of a regulator under about $80. I was looking at the Black Ice. If this probably isnt the best choice, I'd like your input. The only con about this that i have seen is that there are no spots for guages. That's what i heard anyway. Give me your opinion please. Thanks

Again there is no spot for a gauge but the Gladiator is what I was running. I think it is the best reg on the market. It requires maintainence though. After every couple days of play you need to completley dis assemble and re lube it. If you can get over that part of it, you have the best reg on the market, as I have already said.

ya the glad is definately going to be your best choice, especially for $80 or under. its what i am using and i am very happy with it.
happy, i have never cleaned mine, i have thought about it and i know i should but i am scared too :paranoid: and also what kind of oil/grease would i use in it?

i would get the aka sidewinder, just seems more reliable to me.

The AKA Sidewinder IMO is the best reg available. It's consistent, high flowing, and very reliable. It can also handle CO2 very well (though not many people use CO2 anyhow, and with good reason). The gladiator would be my second choice as it's also an excelent regulator. The Centerflag Hyper Inline reg is also extremely good, as well as the palmer stabilizer. Those are all good choices, while the black ice reg, simply isnt. If anything, I'd seriously suggest you stay away from that reg

he said "UNDER $80" guys . . . i would have said sidewinder too cause those are just awesome regs, but they are like $120 . . . for under $80, its gotta be the glad ;)

Ah but you forget that I am illiterate, I can't read that he said 80 bucks.... yeah that's my excuse.
For 80 bucks, the choice is definately gladiator

IMHO the glad and sidewinder are the best. you can get glads for 80 at most sites. I forgot where it was but Im just throwing this out there, you can get a PMI reg that sits on the grip frame like an armageddon and get a gas thru grip butwith a glad or sideinwder you coul hit two birds with one stone.

you can get sidewinders for $84.50 at www.g3pb.com
i dont think $5 should sway you away from them.

Venom, to clean the glad, I stripped it all the way down. There are some ball bearings in it. One or two. I can't remember. I don't have mine anymore. I sold it with my timmy. Anyway, to grease it up use the same grease that you use for you timmy. Make sure you apply a liberal amount to the puck. After that you will be good to go.

well i dont have a timmi :( and i know this is bad, but i actually dont even have any grease for my bushy :o what kind should i get? i want to get some grease and clean my reg, it should make it more consistent, shouldnt it?
and ya for that price i would definately go for the sidewinder, ill probably get one on my next gun. . .

I would use either lithium or dow 55. Those are probably the best two options. Dow 55 being the best option.

Greetings,
If you want to go inexpensive, try a Vigilante.
They will flow pretty good and are fairly consistent.
If you go LP, take the spring out of the top Timi reg and install it in the Vigi - instant LP Vigi!
The Black Ice simply doesn't flow enough to keep up with a Timi.
I have personally tried Vigis, Black Ices, Palmer Stabalizers, Centerflags, Gladiators and the old Bob Long Power Reg.
I haven't tried the sidewinder, so I can't give a good or bad for this one.
I like the performance of the Stab and Glad over the rest.
The other thing I like about the Glad is the location of the air inlet and how compact it is - it looks more like a gas-thru than a regulator.
Whatever you buy, keep it clean and it should perform for you.
As a side note, I have noticed that folks who use screw-in tanks or remove their tank from the marker after play have more problems as dirt and grit gets into the air system - so, just keep the air system sealed and you will have much less problems.

got a question again... im thinkin about going with the
Viilanta regulator with the low pressure chamber and a derlin bolt. do you sugest the vigi with the crossfire 450 out.pressure and that low pressure chamber?

whats a Viilanta? U mean Vigilante? If so... don't. They aren't very consistent, can have weird problems and are more for CO2 then air... unless yer gettin CO2...
Plasma69 bought a Vig and had nothing but problems with it... they just aren't as consistent as glads either... if nothing else, that should be the reason to get a glad.

im pretty sure you have that backwards, they were made for n2, not co2. and they arent that bad, they can be fairly consistent, but there are better regs available . . . like glads, sidewinders, stabalizers, max flows etc. . .

Being that you can't put a gauge on the Glad Reg, how can you keep an eye on your output pressure???? :eyes:

Your sidewinder will be set around 160-180 and that will be the pressure on your HP guage as well

wait a sec... if i get a sidewinder then all i need to put it at is like 80 becuase that is what the pressure of both my low pressure chambers will be at rihgt?

A lot of you say that the sidewinder is the best, eh? How in your opinion does it compare to regs such as the max flo, or centerflag one?

No problem bro
What about the Ans Gen X2? How does this compare to the sidewinder? Can you put a gauge on the sidewinder?
Omega6_Virus

I am not sure about the gauge for the sidewinder. I know that no matter what regulator you put on the Intimidator with the LP mod you can check the pressure by placing a gauge on the HP gauge port.
Both regulators are great. Not many have the sidewinder for the timmy tho. If I would have known it was as cheap as my gladiator, which is also a kick *** regulator, I would have gotten the sidewinder. I love my gladiator tho. The Sidewinder will make a better foregrip and you will not have to worry about how pretty it looks. It seems to me that the ANS gen-x is more for looks tho it works great.
