View Full Version : PBN's obsession with HK/AGG

I just came back from the warzone that is the PBN Paintball Talk forum, and I noticed the "All things HK and AGG" post had recieved over 6000 replies and was over 300 pages long. What's so appealing about HK and AGG that could cause such an obsession? All I know is that HK was originally a SoCal team who never really went too far, and now HK basically represents what's "cool" in paintball and agg is basically just a branch of HK. HK and AGG are pretty much never even mentioned on the PBR forums, so why is PBN so obsessed with them?

The whole agg thing started out as a joke and people took it way too far. I'm not sure why pbn is so obsessed. Just got bored so they needed to mix things up a bit maybe.

The HK army is just a group of guys who look good when they play, who invented the the AGG style, some people like the way the style looks, I know I do, I think it is a nice look as opposed to the traditional paintball look of wearing a backwards baseball hat or a single du-rag with regular company jerseys and pants. HK is adding a little bit of spunk to the sport, giving it a fun edge style wise.
That is the part of HK that I am in agreeance with, the Hostile Kids do promote cheating like no others, which i'm not 100% for, but i'm not going to go off on a flaming rampage saying that all cheaters should die.
People who hate the HK army usually have no reason, just because they're jumping on the anti band wagon, which imo is just as bad as liking them for no reason. I agree with most of the things affiliated with them. But not all.

I wouldn't call it outsmarted, I'm waiting to see what Juvenile said considering talking about HK can be confusing.
I don't support or disagree with HK as I don't know any of them nor do I live by any of them. I do like to look good/agg on the field though, whether that means wearing du-rags, mirrored lenses, or whatever. Why not look cool on the paintball field if you have a choice? I'm sure some of you are just too manly to do that, but don't diss people that you don't know anything about.

Im kinda undecided on HK, like Tony said I dont support their cheating at all, but I do like their style and some of their ideals. Such as the one that paintbal should be played for fun and stuff. Plus I dont wanna be all like "HK Rules!" when I dont know much about em. Also, on teh subject of agg. You have to take it lightly. Its kinda stupid how guys on PBN take it all seriosuly. Personaly, I try to wear the agg style, not so Im considered and labeled agg, but I like the way it looks. And finally. Stop dissing PBN. I used to but now that I have been on it more its not so bad. Alot of the memebers are pretty cool and nice, but there are some of em who are asses. Alright, thats all. Peace!

Did you ever see the thread on pbn about HK day, where all the HK players gathered for one day of playing. There were all the players there, the support has nothing to do with the actual army. The HK army is every single HK player, no matter what team they play on.

This thread is sort of an example of how this site is so full of people who think they're tourney players, but they aren't.
AGG isn't only to look good, alot of playing AGG actually helps you play better as well.....
I like AGG, but I don't really like Jules Foote........he's kinda just looking out for trouble.......I mean sure being a "bad boy" is okay, but not when you go out looking for it.

Never been much of a bandwagoner... HK...AGG...*shrugs* whatever floats your boat I guess...I just put on clothes and go play paintball.
I'm too old for all this fashion and style crap. I don't really care if I'm in style or not. It's paintball...not a fashion runway full of super models. Leave the fashion/style statements to those little guys named Seirge and Giorgio (sp?) and their gourmet espressos....and wait for the swimsuit issue and the Fredrick's catalog like everyone else.
We're paintballers....we shoot each other for fun.... what the hell does fashion have to do with that? IMO, too many people are too concerned with how they look and if they fit the crowd. They forget the most important part of the game. Playing it! I don't care how "cool" you look walking on the field. I'm still going to shoot you. You're "coolness" is going to be different color when you're walking to the dead box.

I hate to tell you, but if you have to emulate others in an attempt to be part of the latest and greatest. You've already missed it. By the time that you have figgured out what the newest craze is, it is already past. If you wait until you can buy commercially whatever you think is the latest fad, those that started it have already moved on.
Be your own person and form your own identity or soon you will be an old person trying to look like teenager and we all know how pitiful that appears.

I doubt that EVERY player in the HK army is such a great player... Most of them probably are worried more about style than they are about actually owning others. If someone was an awesome player AND was agg, I'd totally support them. But the problem is, just being agg is becoming cooler than playing great on the field.

To be in the army you have to play with them and be friends with them I would think, anyone can buy a jersey. It's true, a lot of things that are considered agg can help you play better, such as running with your hand in front of your face off the break. I've seen a lot more bounces off hands than masks. I'm not going to spend a bunch of money looking good on the field, but if I have the choice to look good or not for the same amount of money, I'll go with looking good.

I don't think that to support them you have to cheat all the time or worry about how you look all the time, trying to be AGG. The most AGG things I own are my do-rag and headband. I haven't taken it too far yet, I'm taking my time- I need to work on my playing skills and get a good gun, then I'll worry about whatever looks are "in"- don't get me wrong, you gotta look good doing whatever it is you do best, but I need to BE the best and have the best equipment to go along with my awesome-ness before I have the latest clothes and stuff.

Lame excuse. Go to Del Hobbies Paintball in New Jersey. Want to see cheating? How about playing on with tons of hits on your pack and nobody caring at all.
Frankly, "Cheating because everybody else does it" is a piss poor excuse.
Reminds me of people who were "just following orders".
Just ****ing play your best. Cheating while practicing will never get you better, because as soon as you play a tournament you can't get away with it, so there goes your main way of winning.

Uhhh, yeah, we never cheat when we practice, and it is possible to get away with it at tournaments, it's very very easy if you're good at cheatting, I could cheat so much, anytime if I wanted to, but I try not to because I try to be an honest player. Cheatting isn't somebodys way of winning, it's just another skill that some people have. Live with it.

Just because Tonty says he cheats, doesn't mean he cheats every game or all the time he plays. Hell, I'VE cheated before, and I'm normally the goody-goody-two-shoes type of person when it comes to playing paintball.

On the whiping thing...I personally hate it. Turns my stomach. but when I was IAO I was trading shots with a kid in the snake. I peppered the right side of his hopper. Everyone saw it...except a ref. He looked at it went behind the bunker and came out the left dragging his gun on the bunker, shot my hopper and went back to the right. I played through and lit him up. I knew I was hit. Watched it. The ref finally checked the kid and pulled him and I walked off. I wasn't going to keep on going (even though he was hit first) but I wan't letting him go forward either.

Using a mag cancels out all your agg points, sorry :( Thats why I gave up :D. I don't really see why something like agg should influence my marker decision. I buy for performance, not to fit in. I bought it before agg became big anyway. I don't hate agg/hk, and only respect a supporter if they give me a reason to. Woe is me.
