I bought my Impy from FOM 1 month ago and have used it 4 times to include 1 tourney. It's set up w/ voodoo full flow, delrin bolt, blade trigger, and vert. maxflo.
The problem is this; after about 5 or 10 minutes of being aired up the pressure on the max-flo begins to climb. It will climb from 150 (where I have it set) to over 220 then the max-flo bleeds itself. I can only keep the pressure down by firing off a round every minute or two...It has acted this way since I got it....My friends FOM Impy does NOT do this. What's the deal?

Any help FOM?

Cartel, are you running CO2?
I am, and right after I get a fill, the pressure acts up.
Though the antisiphon works good, cold weather and CO2 aren't very friendly to the MaxFlow. But I still like CO2, and I get a lot of shots out of it.
I probably won't be playing too much during the winter anyway, so it shouldn't be too big of a deal for me.

Have you tried cleaning and relubing (only with Dow 33) your reg? Check that out and let us know how that works for you!

In the front part of the reg there is a spool looking thing. Take the cap off and all the stuff inside the cap. Pull the spool out inspect the O-ring and clean everthing up well. Relube it with Dow 33 and then reinstall it. Gas it up again and try it.

I have been having the same problem with mine but this weekend I am going to lube it and I will tell you if that works.

My maxflo on my shocker was doing that as well. I have had mine a lot longer but you should first off clean out your reg and lube it like Kat said and if that doesn't work, buy a rebuild kit for it which is just a bunch of O-rings and a filter. This helped mine. Now it stays where I put it.

I use c02 and my Imp never sneaks up and overpressurizes on me. Like kat said, check out your reg and look at you valve as well. good luck impy brother!

This is an o-ring problem. there are two likly suspects. the first is the most common.

When you take front of the reg apart, you will pull out the spring and spring cap-- be careful of the little pin in the center. this has a flat end and a radiused end (cerved) when you reassemble -make sure oy get the radusied end toward the Piston.

Now the Piston This is a brass peice that has an o-ring aroundt it. It also has the worlds smallest o-ring INSIDE it. (most fokes never even see this little guy) I will bet that that little guy is your problem. When it gets hard, the reg starts to "creap"-- just what you are discribing.

You need to pull this out with a dental pick and greese up another one to replace it. It SEEMS impossible to get in at first. I normaly fource one corner into the opening, then use something flat like the end of a punch or the end of a larger allen wrench to push down on the o-ring. it will seem impossible to get in, then suddenly something will go right and it will pop right in!.

I would replace this first and re greese and reassamble and try it BEFOR I tried to take apart the back end of the reg. Just FYI-- this is exactly the same little o-ring that comes with the Smart Parts on/off valve. so a lot of dealers don't know that they have the exact replacement o-ring you need <G>

If that does not cure the problem, the other o-ring that it could be is in the back of the reg (ahve to take off the back) the o-ring it most likey will be it the one that is sandwitched between two cupped O-rings. I won't go into detail on this, because I'm about 85% certain the tiney o-ring in the front will take care of the problem.

Thanks for the info. I replaced the iddy biddy o-ring and it worked!

*A note to anyone else who tries to replace this o-ring...When you pop the old one out it flys out of there to be gone forever...so BE SURE you have a new one to replace it with. I put one side in and pushed it the rest of the way in on the flat surface of my coffee table.*
