My cocking knob is on the left, some are on top. Does it make any difference?

no difference..just cosmetics, and easier ambidextrious use..

Top cocking is almost always set up for easier field stripping (on alot of electros, it actually has no part in cocking the gun, but is rather a quick strip pin). That and cosmetics, like TL said

you want to know about cocking and ouch try getting your finger caught between the backblock and the body of an autococker....especially when it only catches a small piece of skin blood blister city...

i did the same thing Phaelon, but my ram pressure was really high, and i didnt really know why my block was so hard to pull back. so i was sitting there trying to pull my back block back(while gas was on) and then i accidentally pulled the trigger, and my finger got pushed in between the block and the body and i got a huge pinch on my finger, it turned all purple.
hurt like a biatch too

I am torn. Side cocking is nice- top cocking you can lay your gun on the ground- but you can't put a sight rail on top, and rear cocking you always nail yourself with your gun
