i heard the stiffi barrel was really accurate, but i also heard that u can't us any battle swabs or anything that is cloth or paper made.So if i didn't use any of tose, nothing would happen to my barrel, like would paintballs do something to the inside of barrel. If anyone who has had a problem with a stiffi barrel or thought it was over rated i would like to know.THANKS

I have a few Stiffis and I love them. They are very accurate and very light. Yes it's true that you shouldn't use any kind of fuzzy squee-gee on them. The fuzz could pull on the carbon fiber. Use only straight shot type squee-gees. (rubber ended pull throughs). No paintball will not do anything to these barrels. IMO they are top shelf.

100% yes without question. The Switch kit is a great kit. Expensive, yes, but this is one of those cases where you will get what you're paying for. A worthy investment for any marker.

so it will be good for a matrix right.

make sure you tighten the back to the tip REAL tight, or else it's a ***** to get one of those little backs off...

you shouldn't break any paint in this barrel unless you were useing really crap paint. and if you do it will clean its self out in a few shots and you can return to shooting just as good as you were before the barrel break.

i dont really know much about the switch, but it didnt really seem right. i love stiffi's, but the backs for the switch are only like 1.5 inches long. i have always heard that if you have backs or inserts they want to be at least 5 inches long preferably 6. is it different with the stiffi? just something i would like to know because i might consider nuying one if you jaster could help or anyone that knows.

the backs do seem a little short
i have no idea why that is, but it seems to work well enough:laugh:
i'm pretty sure u can use the cloth end of ur straight shot, i've been doing that and nothing bad has happened:paranoid:
there's this guy on ebay that sell them really cheap, he has a website too so u can buy directly with a credit card and not bid. i got my stiffi for $80 with free 2nd day air shipping.

I'd be interested in any opinions on the Stiffi Single Barrels vs Dye Ultralite. Trying to make up my mind on one of the two but have never shot with either.

I'm baised to Stiffi's so that's my vote.
To be as unbiased as I can, the Ultralite is one of the top 5 barrels period. Stiffi is too though. Performance wise I don't think you'll see much of a difference. Honestly, I'd get the one you can find the cheapest. You'll be shooting darts either way.

UL:
-Looks cooler (IMO)
-Comes in more colors
-2 piece
-Heavier then a Stiffi
Stiffi:
-Looks cool
-Super light (53grams)
-1 piece (the Switch kit is sort of pointless IMO)
-Will shoot just as good as a Dye

here is a good question to consider...is the metal back on the fixed bore the same as the metal back on the switch kit. In other words, is the 2 inch metal back on the fixed barrel the only thing that is sized. If it is then performance between the regualr stiffi and the switch shouldn't vary right?

the back on the fixed barrel stiffi is just for the threads, becasue putting threads on carbon fiber is just idiotic.
I think the back of the fixed is the only part of the barrel that is sized. The stiffi switch is a way to switch interchangable backs without buying 4 different stiffi barrels. That would be crazy expensive.
IMO the reason they made 1.5 inch backs is because if it worked with the fixed stiffi(which it did), then it would work on a barrel kit also.
You can't use battle-swab is because it will scratch the carbon firber(or so i'm told).
IMO stiffi switch works great for closed bolt markers, even if they have 1.5 inch backs. My autococker wont push the ball that far anyways.
There isn't any difference with a DYE UL and a stiffi barrel IMO. You're using a open-bolt marker anyway right?
They both are professionally machined and greatly commended with their quality.
I'm also a bit biased, so i choose stiffi:D , but it's not like i appreciate the quality of the ultralight, but i used it once, and it was on a tippmann:laugh:
I can't wait until i get my ULE body for my mag, then i could use my stiffi on my mag, then it would shoot so much better:D
If you have used any of these barrels, you would be biased on the opinion also.

some guys i play with are sponsored by stiffi i have shot their markers and it seems fairly accurate but my freak is just as accurate. Here is the situation I have basiclly...I am switching from a impulse to a timmy. I would just buy a new freak back and call it done but those are like 50 bucks. I would like to have a stiffi front on it and those are like 65 i believe. So I am debating weather to pick a stiffi switch up off of ebay for around 130 and not try to convert my freak.

Use a switch as a alternative? If you use the Stiffi Switch for the Impulse it will throw off the balance of the marker, since the switch weighs about 60-70 grams(aluminum tip and back).
On the other hand, if you shoot it with your intimidator, it should hold a great deal of balance.
If you have the funds to do so, go for it. But if you are on a limit, i would just get a freak back(i'm trying to be non-biased).

I had a stiffi on my E-mag and Like it a lot. The main reason I don't have one on my shocker is because it's already insanely light and I'm afraid that it will throw off the balance and increase kick.
Got for it if you have a marker that isn't extremely light such as a shocker or 2k4 style timmy.
