as you can see from lookin at it the balls are in a pod like container with an inside that has groves that the balls can fit into and the groves go up in a spiral/screw like way. now the cylinder that has the groves in it has a spring inside of it going down the middle. when the loader spring is wound it creates a spinning tension and when the balls are loaded and the spring turns the cylinder with the groves it forces a ball out through the tube into the feedneck. now if none of this was clear you can always go to http://www.qloader.com and find out more.

There's a certain type of spring that twists around inside the Q-pod. Paint is lined up and once you shoot the spring turns and balls are forced through the tube into your gun. At least that's how I think it works.

If you look at a picture of it its pretty easy to figure it out. Unless, of course your dumb.

Conventional hoppers work by randomly loading balls from a large assortment, then forcing them down the feed tube. Until balls are in the feedtube, there's no way to know how fast they'll load (which is why you can chop on a HALO at 12bps.) Odds are, you'll feed consistantly, but there's always the small chance you won't.
The Q Loader loads the balls in a long line (the line spirals through the pod), then forces balls into the feedneck/breech in a specific order (the order they were loaded.) It uses a constant-tension spring system to force the balls to load. Think of the Q Loader as a long line of single paintballs with a spring pushing them into the gun. Now, take the line and twist it around the inside of a pod, and bingo, Q Loader.

what about the last 10 or so balls in the hose, how do those get fed into your gun?
