smartparts vs. wdp

hey bad news! smart parts lost the trial. wdp won the rights of electro-pneumatics. it was kinda complicated but to make things simple, dr. hensel was the original inventor of electro-pneumatic operation in paintball guns. smart parts has a clause in their shareholders agreement that states all shareholders must submit all of their ideas and inventions to smart parts and smart parts will own them. smart parts gave dr. hensel 80 shares of smart parts ownership....heres the catch, no one pursued him to sign the agreement! hensel bought the shares but wasnt bound by their agreement!!!!! wdp paid hensel 50,000 dollars for the rights and the judge ruled that smart parts had no right to sue! this will be interesting to see the future of smart parts now. electro pneumatics were their meal ticket.

It's been said, though this was much more informative. Yet I don't understand what you mean by "electropneumatics was their meal ticket" because they've been making them and people have been buying them for years. Either way...

I'm not flaming the thread owner ok... but who the hell cares. Honestly I have no real interest in who "wins". New technologies will be developed to circumvent any patent and life will go on.


Sorry to sound like a scrooge but I can't figure out why so many young people are following this story so close when they have no concept of issues that actually affect their everyday lives. Read the news then read about SP getting owned in court.

i thought i was forgiven. it was just a big smash for the company right in the face. smart parts biggest draw is advertisement. thing is, now they have gotten slapped in the face in public. it hurts certain peoples view of the company. a LOT !!! they came in as the good guys, and came out as the badguys after the trial. did you notice the thing about the shareholders agreement? someone forgot to do something HUGE! because of that..they didnt get the rights to dr. hensel's ideas and inventions. all along they said they invented electro-pneumatics! now, they next time they need to finance an idea like that, they will put stock up for auction,...kind of like a buy-in, but not really. when they try to issue another i.p.o., people wont be as jumpy to buy in. they will think the company is going under. just a thought,

the other two days i sleep and dream about paintball! i hope im not causing trouble with you guys, im just trying to put interesting stuff to read on! i am on here everyday. i love reading everything about everything. this weekend is a two day blitz practice with all the people from local teams, we are getting ready for a tournament. our main back-guy just bought a nerve! i get to play with it this weekend. i cant wait. check the nerve posts for how it is. im running a halo b on it. it should fly.....like a fly.

you guys really spread the love around here! i feel like.....im being beat into a gang! by the way, i had a tiny leak coming out of the end of my max-flo reg, all i have to do is lube the 540 o-ring on the low pressure piston right?(well all i SHOULD have to do anyway.:| )

you should lube that and anything else you feel like lubing in the reg with a light coat of dow33, but definitely that seal is important to lube. i know, we do have a "beat-the-****-outa-you" then "love you" enviroment here don't we... :P
