98c threads

Do the 98 custom and the model 98 have diffrent threads? I wanted to buy a J & J cermaic, but the guy at the PB shop said something about the threads not being compatable between the models. Is this true?

Next time search, but, yes, there was an issue between thread sizes, and tippman changing it. Model 98's with Serial Numbers after 495,501. Tippmann changed the thread specs for new Model 98s. Old barrels will not fit these new guns. Lapco Paintball makes barrel adapters too.

TY for your responses, sorry I couldnt find any other posts about this....until now. I successfully purchased the correct thread with your guys info. I just replaced my stock tippmann barrel with a "Dye Aluminum Barrel Old Style One Piece Aluminum 10 Inch". The guy at the shop recommended it, and Dye reviews on here seemed pretty decent. Just hope i didnt blow my $64 as I have not gotten to try it yet.

no the threads are the same; unless you have one of the most latest models of 98c you may have some problems.

i have a 98c i bought 3 years ago and my barrel fits my friends 98 which he got last year.
