I used not like any kind of protective gear. it just didnt seem, for me. I still dont favor chest protectors. i only will waste money on shin and knee guards. i didnt think of a little 15 neck protector until a month ago. I was playing at TAG in watsonville california. In their speeed ball field it is all barrels. stacked in different places, a big X of barrels in the middle, some laid down, others made into suitable bunkers, etc etc. well i did something stupid. at the beggining of the last game, i ran towards 4 barrels all next to each other, i slid and hit one. it fell ( oops) and i laid down and juss kept taking fire. since this speedball field is so small, it was hard to go anywhere. i couldnt move. all i could do was shoot at the other people that i saw. soon something bad happened. my gun ran out of air. so i was left with a useless 98 and a grenade.
i chose the grenade.i took it out and saw three guys standing behind a huge stack of barrels.i was laying down on the ground, waiting. they kept shooting at me. they didnt hit me even though i was behind a fallen barrel. i was looking at the ground moving away some stuff and preparing to throw my grenade when suddenly....POW!! right in the neck, the guys was only like 10-15 feet away. i got sorta dizzy and felt kinda weird as i walked away, my co2 tank fell out of my fanny and i staggered away off the field dragging it with my remote, (not knowing) it sucks getting shot in the neck. im getting a neckprotector.

You'd be surprised how much a little cover, no matter how miniscule helps. This one time i was at my friends outlaw field, it was cap and defend, some guy came around and flanked me, but a had a sixth sense kinda thing going on, I felt movement to the left (ever happen to you? I feel movement sometimes even though i can't see it) so I dove into a four inch pile of leaves paint streaking overhead. I tried to keep my head down as much as possible, and he couldn't hit me, and he's probably the best guy I play with. It sucked though, i was getting grazed like crazy abd all the balls that I hit him with kept bouncing until i ran out of paint.

My team was gettin flanked so I went the the left tape and worked my way in, well, I saw a guy hidding behind a tree facing the direction towards my base. I watched him for a min. to see if he was on my team or not because I couldn't see his arm band. well, we were about 12ft apart and he turned around and saw me, before I could even squeak I was shot 7 times in the neck with this guys timmy, it looked like I was decapatated and had blue blood. Didn't hurt that much though. Just Pissed me off because when he turned I saw his red arm band, just like mine!!!

I know some of you think that neckprotectors are for pansies...but do any of you actuall wear them? I haven't been shot in the neck yet, but it obviously is gonna hurt real bad, and I have a low-pain tolerance. Do you think I should get one or just tough it out?

I bought a neck protector since I was getting a proteus. I've always played with an X-Fire, so I never really worried getting shot in the neck. The last game I went to I was using my X-Fire, but I forgot to bring my neck protector. Of course, I got shot in the neck. The funny thing is, my dad had shot him, and he wiped. So he shouldn't have even been there to shoot me. It floored me. He shot me right in the little indentation where your collarbones meet.
I asked the guy to chrono his gun after the game, and he was shooting over 320.
For almost two weeks I had what looked like a major hickie on my neck. :D I still have marks left.

The first time I went paintballing it was an indoor speedball style field but the ammo was rubber and you wore vests the had targets. The targets used radios to transmit points to a scoreboard and you don't get eliminated. (The match ends after 15 mins.) I was only playing in a T-shirt and when I saw them chronoing the markers I got a little nervous of the pain! Anyways we went out into our forts ready to scramble onto the field and let the balls fly! I was shaking a bit at the thought of being hit with a ball going that fast! Once the buzzer when I ran as fast as I could to a close by bunker and ducked down with balls flying over my head. I popped up and started to shoot like there was no tommorow! Suddenly I saw a glimps of someone on the red team to my right with no cover inbetween me and the balls I got hit about 10 times and it stung really bad!!!!! I managed to scramble around behind cover and the game continued in the same manner. By the end of the first 15 min. game I had my arms plastered in welts! The second game I went in and expected the game to turn out similar with everyone just shooting everywhere! This time I was used to the balls hitting me and didn't think much of it. (kinda grew imune to the pain) Then all of a sudden when I was scrambling back to my fort to reload some balls I was running fast and all of a sudden... SMACK!!!!! Right in the neck and I could feel it throbing and I was coughing for the next 30 mins. to an hour with a weezing feel. (My throte was inflamed) I spend the last 5 mins. or so of the game sitting in the fort waiting for the sting to leave while I gasped for air! I had the nastiest welt I have ever seen in paintball and everyone thought I had to be in agony with a hit like that! I still don't wear a neck gard but it does hurt extremely bad when you take a shot right in the neck on bair skin! After that first game I play with about 3 layers of clothing and getting hit is more of a shock then pain now. I think I am used to it but some really bad hits still hurt quite a bit!

I got shot in the throat on Sunday.
I was on my knees already and I fell flat on my back and grabbed my kneck, luckily it didnt break so I was still good to go.
Later on that day this guy was out in the open and me and my cousin hailed paint down upon him and he got hit in the neck and his neck started bleeding, :(

Umm... It is not that I am a wimp but it is not like wearing three layers of clothing is really dragging me down or anything. It does add a little extra padding but not only that we were playing in the middle of winter! In the summer I have no problem playing in a T-shirt. Another good thing is that people have a harder time getting you to surrender! lol
Also about where I live. I live in Ontario, Canada. About 2 hours east of Toronto.

I was at a field with my freind, and we were on the same team. We both bunkered in bunkers next to each other. three mins. into the game, my buddy got shot in the throat, dropped his gun and grabbed his throat, i slid over to him and asked if he was okay, he nodded his head, said "yea" and (i found this funny) -asked if the shot broke ;)
I then decided to invest in a ten dollar neck protector, and i wear it every game. - the only thing i dont like is that you get hot wearing it, and when you take it off between games, the sweat turns cold o when you put it back on, it feels really sick.:(
