ok guys here's the problem: i just got an impulse with a lot of upgrades and i like it but i cant afford to shoot all the paint i'm shooting with it. i cant just shoot less paint because my fingers have a mind of thier own. now i barely get to play because i easily shoot a case in a regular day of play.
now back when i had a cocker i would only shoot around 1000 to maybe 1200 a day. i played alot more often when i had the cocker and i think it made me better having a slower gun. it made me better at snapping too. i dont have a real job but with a cocker it would cost me a little under $30 to play for a day at my local field(keep in mind i only play speedball and im the captain of my team, im a back to mid player also)and i would probably just be able to play once a week.
now heres the thing, i have been known to make bad trades(traded an ebladed cocker for a bushmaster and cash, stuff like that), and my friend has offered me his stock 04 cocker, a 48/3000 tank and $330 for my impulse with upgrades and a nitro duck 68/4500 that needs hydro. i am about 80% sure that im going to do that right now because i would spend $200 in upgrades/a nice tank and $130 on play time.
i would get a nice barrel, a bolt, dye stickie 3 grips, and i would buy my other friends 68/4500 tank for $100 and sell the 48/3000 for around $50.
personally i think its a good trade but i want your opinions.
sorry for the long read but id really appreciate your opinions.

Here is an idea.....
Go with what you think will be good for YOU, since, afterall, it is going to be you with that gun and you making the trade.:|

Bring less paint with you when you go, that way you'll have to learn how to conserve paint.

either play hopperball, or with less pods (like 1 pod...)
it'll make you a more aggressive player, which is good...
(i would also say to keep the imp, since they have better resale value)

Why not adjust your trigger, so it's really long, and stiff. So you can't physically shoot fast.

because ill find a way to shoot fast. besides, i plan on gettin an eblade around christmas time with the cocker, and ill have the cash to play one more tourney this season with the cocker and ill be able to get a nice tank and barrel kit which ive never really had.

i would serously go with the big wazzo's idea make your self learn to conserve paint by only allowing your self to shoot a certian amout of paint a game. seriously keep the imp much better resale value then a mech cocker... i plan on geting a matrix and moving up from my mech cokcer

I would go with the 'cocker. Probably just me. I would try to trade the pneumatics for a Sniper 2 pump that some one is trying to turn into a 'cocker. :) Shoot a lot less paint then, and you could almost afford a new body for the cocker too.

In order to be anybody at PBR, you need to use the same icon as a mod once in a while.
But, if you don't want to go play pump, you could get rid of the tank and stuff the kid wants to trade you, and get a better/ lighter tank or, a new body, in which case I would save my pennies for a better tank.
On another note, you could always try to get your friend to throw in another $20-40. That would get you a decent used tank.

Old thread...oh well.
Sounds like your wallet can't keep up with your trigger. I always liked the saying, "Shoot players, not bunkers."
The soution is simple, and there are a few.
1) Team up with 1-2 other players in your games, and take turns laying down cover fire. Make sure 1 person doesn't do the covering all day long.
2) Force yourself to carry a limited amount of ammo on to the field. Even when I'm playing aggressive, and get myself into a pinch, I find a single 200-rd hopper is enough for a round, 9 times out of 10.
3) Slow down and think about your shots. Consider these two things: Do you have a good chance of scoring the hit? Are you immediately threatened by your target if his head should pop up?
If the answers are no, then don't fire. It's fun when it's a stalemate and each player is eyeballing one another, trying to anticipate what the other player's next move is going to be, without firing a single shot. That being said, I have often made players use up an entire hopper by just popping body parts out from behind bunkers. I wait til I see/hear them reload, then rush. Works more often than not.
Anywho...1000 rds is plenty for 1 day of play in my case if I'm using a semi. If I'm playing pump/Zeus, I use maybe 200 rds in a day.
Just work on quality over quantity, but think twice about selling your marker if you really love it. It's not the marker's fault. ;)

Indeed.
I say adjust the pull really long and crappy like cocker kid recommended then strap a revvy on there.
Play hopper ball, its what i do at the beginning of the day so then i have plenty of paint for the end of the day and i can shoot as much as i want.

i play 3 man and i do that with 50 rounds or less, that will greatly improve your game if you practise playing while in a rec game not a tourny of coarse.

1. ask for money for christmas
2. apply for a job at your field... free paint and you get to keep your imp.

1) adjust your trigger
2) bring less paint, learn to conserve
3) switch to pump
