metalcast is like spray paint... the only difference is that it makes the finish appear to be anodized, so its kind of a cheapo paintballers dream. you need to do a few things before you paint....
-strip the gun of original anodizing, sand blast is if possible, if not then sand it with rough sand grit then a light sand grit, make sure you get every spot clean that youre gonna paint

-make sure the guns surface is free of any foreign material; dirt, missed anodizing, etc..

-get metalcast base coat and apply about 3 thing coats, seperatly of course, let each one dry for about 20 minutes before you start the next one

-once you got all that done, let the base coat dry for about 2 hours, and spray light coats of your color choice, as many coats as desired, let about 20 minutes again between coats, if you want the paint to look very 'deep', apply about 10 or 15 coats, do not exceed this amound, and these coats should be very light... if that effect is not needed, apply about 6 or so coats and let the finished product air dry for at least 24 hours before you use it

thats pretty much it, post some pics when youre done, im interested to see how this new kinda paint turns out for people.. !!

and yes of course it can be scratched off, but not as easily as ordinary spray paint. pretty durable in that deparment.. im actually gonna do my gun pretty soon, and have been experimentging with other metal objects... it took a nail to scratch the surface. so youre not gonna be getting nics and scraped from woods ball or any ordinary field play, just be kinda careful... dont drop it, (of course you wouldnt any way right  )

and about that site, you dont really need to go through that proccess with the grease remover and everything, i didnt and my test products came out B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L

The computer that has my card reader installed in it, for my camera, is not currently working... sucks... HP sent some recovery cd's, didnt help, any way, ill get some pics here once I get that computer goin again.. in the mean time, heres some car parts done by metalcast, not by me, probably by professionals, but if its done right it can turn out like this...

I can very easily picture this replacing professional anodizing because those pictures are really really good of that engine.

I don't know.

I mean, I for one would rather not sand on my marker... unless it really looked like crap already.

Why not use the drain cleaner stuff to strip the anno? Sandpaper might scratch the aluminum and make the anno cum out good but you'd have scratches and stuff.

you would have to polish the stripped surface i assume. like real anno right?

I dont think you would need to since the anno will cover it anyway.

as long as you used pretty fine grain and didn't take too much off it would be fine. might consider doing that to my old spyder

you can also paint right over the anno, as long as you apply a few extra coats of the metalcoat base coat... so you dont have to worry about 'scratching the aluminum', which i havent had a problem with on some of the aluminum pieces i tested the spray out on

I just noticed how many coats you have to put on. It said for a deep looking color up to 15. That would take a while.

yeah... a day or two just to apply it, but that is for a very very rich looking color with depth, not many paintball guns have this unless it was custom. this is effect is mainly done on vehicles, but looks amazing on other things. if you dont wanna do that many, but dont want the normal looking gun, do some extra coats... its your gun, im just giving reccomendations on what i think is a good way to go
