I am entering some tournaments this spring and summer, and I need a gun to keep up with the big boys. I would be looking to spend anywhere up to $500, the reviews have not really helped me since I have no idea what I am looking for. We are looking to enter tournaments at the Rookie/novice level. Please make suggestions, tell me what works and what to stay away from.
thanks,
Mike

You just need a gun for under $500? Check out the Bushmaster or the Impulse. Very nice guns and will suit your needs. I am also looking at those markers. With the bushy you will need nitro. I went to a Rookie tourney and did pretty well with my spyder. You also might want to check out the EM-1. They are only $350 at some sites.

smart parts makes the impluse. i would say mag, but then you would prolly want nitro. it runs fine with a expansion chamber and anti-siphon tank

get an automag, autococker, or an impulse

I would personally go with the impulse. Its about 400 online, and it runs great on C02 (which is cheaper than nitrogen:D), that leaves you with almost 100 dollars for upgrades.

Impulse, a great electro for a great price, if you have extra cash look into the bushmaster, which is also a great gun.

Impulse, Autococker, or Bushmaster
Stay away from using co2, but if you have no choice then get an Impulse.

Hey that's cool, sickness. We were gonna call our team disturbed, but we figured with such a cool band, that name had to be taken. I guess we were right.
Impys are down there like everyone else said, or bushy(very sweet guns and there is a lot of help on this page dealing with them. Richy C really knows his bushys, if he still posts here)

well if you're posting in the noob forum then dont get a cocker unless you know how to handle front pnumonics like that. i'd get a mag, impulse or a bushmaster. actually, bushies have a weard barrel thread on them and i heard they are gas hogs so i'd go with the affordable impulse which is an electro gun, which the mag isnt but the mag is a very fast simi auto. you need nitro or compressed air for both guns but it is worth the xtra money. you cant use full auto in tourneys i think so thats just money wasted on the impulse. i'd go with a minimag with nitro, a revolution hopper, and an aftermarket barrel which will even you out to at least 500

well my bushy is not a gas hog at all, i think it gets decent efficiency, i get about 1200 shots off my tank. if i were you i would try to find a gun package in the forums, like a cocker and nitro tank or maybe a nice imp and anti-sypon co2 package . . . it will be hard to find a deal with a bushy and nitro tank for under $500, but it could be done . . . but i would go used so it is already upgraded when you get it, thats just my opinion though

o im sorry. from the experience ive had with them, the gauge practicaly friggin droped everytime i fired. the guy only got 400 shots on a 68cc nitro. o well. airnt they heavy though?

bushies, heavy?? not at all, bushies are some of the lightest markers i have ever held, they are also pretty nicely balanced IMO . . . and 400 shots from a 68ci tank was probably because his tank wasnt full or sumthing . . .

no lie! i saw the guy fill it up and about 400 shots later (according to his ricochet hopper) he was empty

was he going really fast or dry firing? that would make the counter a little less, and if it was filled fast it might have cooled off alot . . . thats not too bad, assuming it was pretty much stock. :eyes:
