Threesome :)

Ok, someone needs to set my brother straight. We have both been planing on getting an impulse from FOM for about a month. Now he is telling me that he is thinking of getting a cocker (sleeper cocker). I am telling him that he will be 100% happy with the accuracy with his impulse but he says the cocker will be way more accurate. He also is iffy about going electro and is worried about all the problems he may encounter and im sure he will encounter just as much trouble with a cocker. So all i am asking is for your input, what you would choose and why? Thanks!

the amounts of problems he'll have with an electro, pail in comparison to a cocker's maintenance problems. Last time I went paintball (my field is closed now...boohoo) the little guy with the cocker spent about 2 hours of his day at the chrono, I don't know what exactly was wrong..but they were taking it apart and putting it back together again...really annoying. Electros are usually alot more simple...just take care of it as much as indicated, lube the bolt after a day of playing and the other stuff about once a month (clean the regulator, lube the hammer, etc.) i fyou play once a week or two weeks.
and with that (my only really useful post of the day) I bid you g'night.

Gosh......I'm sorry to hear that your brother would rather get a cocker...hehe. j/k I bought a VFF imp from FOM and I can say that I love it! But cockers are nice too. In terms of accuracy, I would say that imps can be accurate as anything as long as you get consistant air going through it and if you get good paint/barrel match. Maxflo takes care of the air and progressive barrel ain't bad at all if you got the right paint. Although getting a new barrel wouldn't be a bad idea.
Reliability of the impulse is not even an issue. These guns work great as long as you know how to take care of them. Just read the manual and websites so you get educated on its operation and maintanence. The electronics will be just fine too as long as you don't try to mess with the actual circuit board by rewiring it or something.
Although imps are great....don't discourage your bro from getting a cocker if thats what he really wants. There is a reason why many professional p-ballers get these guns and the reason is that they do have great accuracy (with a good barrel) and they perform well. The only problem with a cocker is that you have to get everything on the gun and air system to work perfectly. If one thing craps out, then the whole gun will not work as well or may not work at all. Cockers require lots of fine tuning.
ok this is long, but in conclusion......imps are awesome and don't need much work to get it going. cockers are awesome too, but they require more work. some people like that though.....like those dudes that always work on their cars. Just tell your brother to get the gun that will make him happiest. If he is still in doubt.....get your imp first and let him shoot it........that'll probably give him a better idea of what he wants to do.
hope that helps
Isaac
P.S. FOM is da pimp mastah of the imp universe.....buy from him e-paintballoutlet.com

Ask your bro if he'd rather be playin with his Imp, Or running to the airsmith with his cocker? Too much "wrenchin" needed to keep a cocker workin. At least all the ones this Kat has ever seen!

Now KK. When you get a cocker set up great there is not much that needs to be done. I have one that I am still tinkering with, but the one I worked on for my buddy rocks and he hasn't touched it for some time. If he has never had a cocker and not really mechanicly inclined then he had better get an Impulse. The are a lot easier to maintain and most of the time you don't have to make some quick decisions at the field if the cocker stops working.

hey... I was in his same shoes... cocker or shocker (slightly different)... but I chose cocker.
here is my story, and how I grew to hate cockers:
not a day goes bye that I regret it. I put maybe 500 bucks on top of the 350 I paid for it, and I never got a solid days play out of it. all palmer front block, palmer stabalizer, tornado valve, lightning bolt, dye aluminum barrel, hinge trigger, etc. it should have been the perfect cocker!
about 4 months into owning the marker, I got sick of sending it to my local shops (not just one) and going to play and having to return the next day with it not working agian. I was afraid to touch it. I went out and bought a matrix.
I sold the cocker, and bought my dad an impulse for his birthday.
he has it.
he loves it.
I love it. it shoots as well as my matrix.
he just sent it in to FOM for a VFF and delrin bolt and blade trigger.
when he gets that back, it will rip up the field, I may want to play with that instead of my matrix.
well, that was my experience with cockers vs. electros.
I will never go away from electros.
some people say they are the future. the future is now.
tell your bro to get an impulse.

This is the "brother" who has been debating. I made mmy decision to go with the impulse and screw the cocker. Even though i still like cockers... I dont think a cocker will hold a candle to an impulse, so within this month two vert reg impys, with VFF, and BLADE, triggers will be at my door. And thanks alot for all the input.:D

Get yourself a screen name and post a pic of your baby in the Impulse Picture thread when it comes in. Oh and by the way.... Excellent choice by you my new Impulse brother! ;)

Just get good and win yourself a cocker. That is what I did and I love my cocker, but not as much as my Pulses.
