I've been researching air efficency, so I thought I pass along some information on dwell:
I've read in this forum and elsewhere that the stock Impulse with a cricket board has dwell settings of 4-14 milliseconds (ms). From my understanding here, the minimal dwell a stock Impulse can operate is 6ms. So from my calculations this is what we have:
4 beeps = 4ms
8 beeps = 5ms
12 beeps= 6ms
16 beeps= 7ms
20 beeps= 8ms
24 beeps= 9ms
28 beeps= 10ms
32 beeps= 11ms
36 beeps= 12ms
40 beeps= 13ms
44 beeps= 14ms
I've read that some Impulses such as the Adreline, or upgraded internals (New Designz RIP valve/Slick Shot/Equlizer bolt) can operate on lower dwells such as 6-8 beeps from zero.
My stock Impulse arrived with 26 beeps/9.5 ms. Currently running on 12 beeps/6ms with ND Internals.

well the lowest is 6 ms to my knowlege, so u cant go down to 4. i think the lowest setting, as in all the way down untill you hear the weird noise is 6ms. and with ther stock board u adjust in increments of 0.25, so 4 beeps is one millisecond.

no, you the lowest is 4ms. very nice thread info though! good job!
well i wasnt sure, my bad, but yeah tehy are adjustable in 0.25 ms increments, so the weird noise is at four, which i guess would be zero then and then 4 beeps would be 5 ms and 4 beeps would be 6 ms and so on.......is this right tpd?

heh, yeh, your right, i didn't notice that on his chart. it should read:
i am just gonna re-do his top post here for him short hand:
The Stock Cricket board has a Dwell range of 4-14 milliseconds and is adjustable in .25 millisecond increments. This allows you to fine tune your Impulse.
Adjusting the dwell on the Cricket board is SUPER easy. While the marker is on, just press the dwell up or dwell down buttons through the side of the solenoid tray. This will allow you to easily dial in the dwell and it is easy to play around with the dwell if needed.
beeps=dwell time (in milliseconds)
0 (the lowest)=4
1=4.25
2=4.5
3=4.75
4=5
8=6
12=7
20=9
28=11
36=13
40=14
dumb-dumb info is always good ;)

Wait a sec...
We may still need to tweak those figures.
TPD, check your Impulse....my 2004 with Cricket board can go up to 44 beeps from zero, which throws off your numbers.

there are a couple difference boards out there right now. the newest blue light cricket has intervals of .25ms, has the lowest dwell dwell of 4ms (0beeps) and has a highest dwell of 14ms (40beeps). there are, to my knowledge, two other models of blue light boards that have been made by sp so my chart is really only for the new one.

I have a javascript calculator on this page (http://www.angelfire.com/mech/zds/imp/dwell.html) of my website.
