Hey, is the Bigshot a good choice when it comes to conserving air?

Isnt it loud like a rivot gun? And if it's big bore (Bigshot == big bore, right?), then wont you need a big honkin paint to shoot well? And if it's flouted as the king of LP, wouldnt it take a lot of air and power to push that big ball through that big barrel? I know it has no porting so all the gas goes into pushing, and that LP is high-volume low-psi shooting, but it seems counterintuitive... someone please help me! I hate using 800 psi and my loud arse stock Shutter barrel! Is the Bigshot loud (among my other questions!)???

OK, I read the review at spyder-club.org and they said this thing is LOUD as crap, and has an 8" spread at 75 FEET! And the ball curves really bad past/near 100 feet. This is absolutely absurd. It might be good for LP, but who would want to sacrifice so much performance? Or does LP eliminate the noise?:pissed::confused::pissed::eyes:

first big shots are medium bore not large. they are called big shots because they are bigger than the original lapco autospirits. they really are not that loud at all, i dont have a problem with noise with it on my bushy, or when i had one on my shutter. i used to have one on my shutter and i set my reg at about 700-750 psi. and 8 ft. groups at 75'??? i dont know what they did wrong there, but they did something wrong, or they are just trying to bash on lapcos, cause i get awesome groupings with mine (i got good groups with it on my shutter too) and i dont use a big shot because it is efficient (although it is nice bonus) i use it because it is very accurate and consistent.

This is a mite off topic, but the owner of my local shop said that porting only reduces noise and doesnt reduce anything like efficiency, or make it worse for l/p.
Maybe hes just off his block

he's a nut... my shots per tank are very noticeable depending on porting, i agree totally with venom,i shoot alot of med bore paints, and because of the cocker threading on my defiant got to borrow and test alot of barrels the LAPCO and CP barrels are top notch!! you cant beat the performance vs cost period
test after test done PRoperly have proved the worth of these barrels, and all over these forums the biggest most whined about
things are "its to loud" or "it's to heavy" those are opinions!!

wich means you need to judge for yourself,i didnt notice to much of a sound differnece between the barrels i tested, other than screwing the ss back piece only of a j&j barrel and playen a game
with what a 3" barrel lol

the only barrel i would be concerned about the noise would be a ramrod

Kind of like when ppl whine "it's too expensive" about other barrels or "I get 100 more shots without porting". 50 bucks is not particularly cheap either.

just my 2xE-2
