Please tell me if this is a bad idea. I have a tippmann pro carbine and I've paintballed once. I want to get a used impulse with ups for around $450. I am am 15 and dont have a job. Am I getting ahead of myself?

Depends upon the "ups", and your level of commitment. An Impulse is a very good marker, and a lot can be done with them.

But $450 is a lot of money for someone unemployed. Then your talking tank, barrels, hopper, and who knows what next. If you can swing it, and want to play go for it. But do some research and price comparisons. I've seen Imps going for some cheap money. PLus a lot of the sponsored Teams are selling off markers this time of year. So higher end markers can be had for just a little bit more.

Just my opinion though.

If you have the money, go for it. Try mowing lawns, shoveling snow, babysitting. You might be a little ahead of yourself if you can't get a real job though, unless you have rich parents that spoil you. If that is the case, don't say so or you will be flamed out of existance.

EDIT: You've only paintballed once, go a few more times before you decide.

I would wait a little longer and try to play a few more times before switching to a better gun. Once you have fundamentals down then you can move up to a nicer marker. Try some of the stuff GranDream said to make some money so you can play more, but still keep enough money to buy a new marker when the time comes.

Personal ability is the dumbest way to evaluate if you need a new gun.

If you've only played once, play for a while longer and decide if it's something you're going to stick with before blowing $450 on a gun you're going to stop using in 6 months.

stay away from imps. Mine has been nothing but trouble. The feedneck stricpped and i had to use cold weld to fix it, plus lots of small minor things have gone wrong with it. Saturday i was palying a scenario and my imp jsut started spiking like crazy and my trigger wouldnt return. I used my tippy for teh rest of the day, i tried my impy before i left and it was working fine, but before it was being horrible to me. SO PLEASE GET SOMETHING ELSE!!!!! get a bushy, bko, or omen.

It depends.
ARe your parents willing to support you playing paintball, or are you going to have to pay for a paint like i do.

If you can do it then go for it, but make sure before buying it that you plan to keep playing. If this is a fad in your life stay away.

And imps are not the bad, read his other thread to the reason why he is getting one.
