What you can do is take it apart and while putting it back together again clean, examine and oil every component... Methodically, slowly, and precisly steps A through Z, one at a time. Any joint, O-ring, valve or seal that you find questionable - replace it.

I am not going to pay for parts, or even put it together. I am not too good at doing things like that. I think I am going to send it back, get my money, and get a TL Plus.

Shaddup. Maybe I don't want to mess up a gun that I just got last week.

ya but thats nice to know that im a wuss i have field stripped my whole gun. and im not afriad to take it apart. is that wuss?? a wuss is what yo uare being. just take the screws out carefully and have a box or something around your gun and nothing cna go wrong. By the WAy i took my gun fully apart the first day i got it. SO i know when i go to the field and something goes wrong i can take it apart. Plus if you got your manual for your STS then if something does go wrong (which i dout could actually happen) yo ugot the boo kto help you. In it you can find all the stuff about the gun. It shows diagrams of hte whole gun every single screw. So dont be a wuss and take it apart and oil it. If you dont thats pretty sad.CAuse piranhas are the easiest to take apart. Good Luck!

Tehn put your tank back in and dry fire it a couple shots. \and if that dont work then send it back or take it some place to have someone look at it.

Hey shot do you smell that whats it smell like to you it is comming from joel. um oh now i smell it it is newbie

p.s. for good sakes just oil your gun or buy i stingray cuz thats what newbies should buy. you are what my friends and i call a sedrick you get a bunch of cash and buy a gun that you need to take good care of when they should start with brass eagle and get disspointed (but at lest they will understand the main idea that you need to work your way up the gun later)

Me, a newbie? I think not. Listen, I just didn't want to take everything apart and loose a piece like I did to my Tippmann. I've only had the gun for a week, so I didn't want to screw it up. I have field stripped my gun A LOT and cleaned it. I do it after everytime I get done using it. So just shut your mouth. I am no damn newbie. Incube, you are probably the newbie here, just trying to sound all cool.

Witt

Incube. Maybe you should just shut up and bow down to Timberlake because I think he owns your ***. J/k..Why do people fight...We want to help each other!

My STS leaked at the Ram Air Chamber so I unscrewed it and took the piston and the screw out oiled the o-ring put it back together, no problems after doing that.

Even if Joel is a newbie...so what? It isn't your responsibility or place to pick on him for having less experience. I understand his fear of ruining a 200 investment. Some people don't feel the need to take the chance of breaking their new gun. If he doesn't have the experience to fix it, he is doing the wise thing not attempting to fix things he doesn't know how to fix, and possibly voiding his warranty.
People like you piss me off more than any newbie I have ever met. You scare people away from the sport! People new to the sport need help and support, not some Ahole degrading them. Remember, to someone you could be considered a newbie.
Get over yourself, and try to help people, not hinder them in their attempts to learn. I have been playing for 10 years now, and I learn something new every time I go to the field, sometimes from newbies who don't have the limitations on their thoughts that someone with experience has.

Dman, I thank you for backing me up. I once tried to clean my model 98. I opened it up, and EVERYTHING flung out. Lucky, I found everything and fixed it. It's not like I won't clean it, I just don't want to go into everything.

P.S - I am NO newbie.

I wasn't saying that you were.:) It was more of a statement of who cares. I still consider myself a newbie sometimes, and I started playing in 1991 with a NSG Splatmaster...the first Wal-Mart gun. There are people that I know who have been playing since the mid 80s..to them I am a newbie, and always will be. Especially when it comes to owning the cocker I just bought. I feel like an idiot sometimes with it.
I know the feeling I forgot to make damn sure that the ball detent in my M98 was properly seated. When I shot it I watched it fly out the barrel...Clamshells might be easier to assembly and produce, but they suck for taking apart the gun.
You won't have that problem with the STS. I used to own one. I liked it alot, but I traded it in on my cocker. I bought an RT 98 for a backup gun....just because they are tanks.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Ya Tippmanns are hard to field strip. I did it but i lost the spring that goes in the thing that holds the hopper up. So now i gotta use this wippy tape and a piece wire. But it works to play with so hey.

I can take m98 faster apart then i can my Piranha PRO. All the screws on m98 are straight and you can get to them faster then you can on the Piranha.
