Just tell him its a sport, like any other, keeps you out of the house so your mom and him can have some alone time, keeps you healthy by giving you excercise.
Consider it like a membership at a gym or a baseball league or something.

Tell him it's your money, you've worked hard for it and want to spend it on what you really want. Tell him it's not going to cost him a cent.

Definately better than your Stock Spyder.
You can keep up with everyone else.

I have this problem with my dad too. I did eventually figure out an agreeable way for both of us(mom, I PROMISE dad said he didn't care) and sometines when I get a new gnu, I just don't ask them, just get it, and they never notice the difference.

Tell your old man you're either spending the money on a gun or on dope. Then tell him its his choice. Just hope he doesn't make you share.

I dunno, after I took my dad Pballing, he never complained when I bought new gear.
Paintball is healthy, active, it's only about half as addictive as heroin, with none of the side effects.
Let's face it, you're at a time in your life where you get to blow money. This doesn't last very long. You deserve to have something nice esepcially since you're working for it. Besdies, after you sell your old gun I bet you'd only need like, $150. And it's not like you're asking to buy a Fly 2K4.

WRONG!
Side effects include talking about it too much and going broke.

My folks stopped giving me a hard time about the costs of my paintball gear after I took them out in the Spring at my 100+ person office/group game. I made my dad shoot a rental in the AM and then upgraded him to one of my intimidators in the afternoon. He's never said anything to me since about dropping $10,000 in the last 2 years on paintball. :)
...Then again I make more than he does and my house costs more than his...and I pay for his paintballing when he and my family visit...so I guess he really doesn't have much to complain about at this point. :P

Don't say you won't upgrade it, I did ONE TIME, and now every gun I buy, my Mom asks why I'm upgrading it, she thought it was so much better stock. I was watching a WAS Equalizer board video last night on their site, and she walked by me and leaned over and said ''You need to play the sport instead of spending all your time on paintBALLrevIEW.'' With emphasis on the ''ball'' and ''iew''.
Duh, I need to upgrade it, it's PAINTBALL for God's sake.

Read Hurley's thread. It's well written and will probably answer any questions you have.

the drama of six feet under. Well i guess saying you wont upgrade is better than saying "this will be my LAST gun" I said that about my phanty and cocker. Whenever i mention a trix or timmy i get told that all my actions are stupid.
Also know that if you get a BKO then you will need HPA or an a/s co2 with a palmers stab

take him out, that is what you gotta do... or just pitch how active it is, and healthy and so on.
My dad went with me first time, so he has never been against it, he loves hearing my stories too.

Bull. That's what they all say...
i'll use it more
i'll sell my old gun

Not upgrade it?!? Ahahahahahahaha......
its a better gun.
add anything you think might help. Other than that, good reasons, I guess. I haven't really had a problem with my parents, as the let my buy anything I want with my money short of drugs and harlots.

im not a serious paintballer so i wont need a new gun if i get a good enough one. i wont need to upgrade it cause im sure the gun will perform exellent without upgrades. does anyone know were i can get a good bko for a cheap price?

Your BKO will not perform excellent.

ive been playing with a spyder. i dont think spyders can even compare to bko's even when their completely stock i am gonna get compressed air if i get one. it sounds like you guys are trying to talk me out of getting a new gun.
the BKO will be fine for your needs if your not into tourney or planning to move up very far. get yourself a nice hopper like an Egg since you wont need very high speed and a crossfire screw in.

im most likely not going to be playing in any big tournaments. ive heard good things about crossfire so thats what ill get.
