I have a custom 98 and I have a dye aluminum 14' barrel and I just got the lapco bigshot recently. I shot zaps though the BS and it was curving all over the place, I also shot pmi premium and Diablo hellfire with the same results. I was also breaking about 1 out of every 200 rounds. I shot the same paint out of my Dye and it was shooting pretty good, although I would have thought that the BS would have been more accurate. I have been told by everyone that the Bigshot is the best barrel for the 98. Do I have a defective barrel or something or i am just not shooting the right paint?

mine works awesome. do you clean your barrel after a break? my geuss is your barrel isnt clean. if you break a ball, run a squigee through the barrel fast, then turn your gun upside down and dry fire like 4-5 times than fire like 2 shots at the ground and it should be good. no barrel will shoot good if its not clean.

My barrel was brand new, clean and shiny on the inside. I was using new paint. Has anyone ever gotten a defective barrel from Lapco? When I was shooting some PMI premium it was breaking a little bit and there was a lot of paint at the end of the barrel where the only porting is. Could it not be smooth enough, did they screw up my barrel or something, I'm very dissapointed in this barrel. :| :(

i have no idea, i have never heard of this before. my barrel does make shots curve sometime, after a break. when its clean it shoots darts, if you break in it and try to just play through it, it will get a little better after some shots, but its not going to get back to normal until its clean.

well, diablo hellfire is a very small bore paint, so i wouldnt expect good results with a bigshot.. i have the best results with Team Colors and RPS premium.. also, could your velocity be too high?

Yes, your velocity is set to high. Here is the resoning. The Bigshot has hardly any porting except at the very end where it doesn't make a difference on velocity. The Boomstick has porting all of the way down the barrel. If your velocity is set to high the ball can actually bounce around on the inside of the barrel and make your accuracy and consistency look like poop. Try going to the chrono and figure out where you are at and go from there. Try some different paint also. Big Ball, PMI Premium, TC, etc.

Ok well first off I don't have a boomstick I just have a regular dye aluminum.;)
I played at a field this last weekend and whent I went to the chrono I was shooting 285-300 and I haven't tinkered with the velocity screw. :) Should I still put the screw in a bit more and see what happens?
I've heard of good results with rps paint and the JT maxim paint with the bigshot, is this true? My local store sells all of the Diablo brands (hellfire, midnight, blaze etc) and also some marbilizers i think. I've never used the marbilizers and they are a bit more money then the other diablo paint, but if I have to I will pay more. Any suggestions?

my favorite paints to use in my big shot are RP premium and Blaze. blaze is kinda weird though, i have had some batches that fit perfectly and some that are too small, i also find mis-shaped balls in blaze sometimes, check them out first. put one in your barrel and try to blow it out, it should blow out fairly easily, if it rolls out or your face turns red trying to blow it out, its a bad fit.
