What is the best place to buy c98's and upgrades?
What is the c98 e-bolt's board capped at?
How does this setup sound:
Shocktech M98 and A-5 SuperFly Bolt
Tippmann Custom 98 Low Pressure Kit
Tippmann Model 98 E Paintball Gun - Black
Rufus Dawg Tippmann Custom Model 98 Double Trigger Kit
Custom Products Grip Regulator - Long w/Gauge Port Paintball Foregrip - Green
Dye Ironman Boomstick Barrel - Model 98 14"
thanks

ebolts capped at 13... you might want to get the BSI version.
everything in the setup looks good, but you might not need an aftermarket bolt cause it proves to deem itself useless.
there have also been some instances of the RD double trigger kit breaking... but i dunno how true that is.

and how, iyo, would it perform? could you relate it to any other guns on the market, in aspects like rof, efficiency, maintenence, and ease of use? thanks a lot.

Compare it to a stock imp.
Slow
heavy
Loud
Overpriced
Fugly
Inefficient
Inconsistent
It is a tippmann and no matter what it will still be a tippmann.

really? that setup would be slow compared to a stock impulse?

With the amount of money he would put into the tippy and all the ups, he would be better of buying a higher-end gun off the bat. If he wants to play speedball seriously he'll get over his tippy real fast (I know I did)
If he wants a slightly pumped up tippy, I have one for sale in my sig, PM me if you're interested.

i think those were separate statements. The first was what you could compare to and the second was the attributes they shared.
Anywho, It's a pretty tight setup, you find it on E-bay or something? Or do you just want a project gun?
If you're buying it all new I would skip the aftermarket bolts, they are pretty much useless do a search on it for our thoughts on that.
EDIT: This guy is pretty popular on the Impulse boards on this sight, I think he's already got a fine marker.

why would he get "over it?" it seems to me that, even though it sure wouldn't be cost effective, that that gun setup would work just as well as any other... or is there something i'm missing? i know it is a tippmann, and i know there are something that will never get better with it, but at least it would be about as fast as almost any other gun out there (with an uncapped board that is)...

due to the ram design on the ebolts... you can only make 13 cycles before all goes to hell. even if you had no cap on your board, the ram would make incomplete cycles after 13 causing you to chop...
tippys are also pretty heavy, if you have that much money, then i would just go w/ another gun. are you looking for a backup or something?

alright, thanks for the info. can a no ebolt c98 cycle faster than an ebolt one?

Just to clear things up, I'm speaking more from a speedball/average rec course perspective.
I was thinking more along the lines of the actual tippmann's dimensions, both it's weight and most importantly it's length. If you put a 12" barrel on it (like I did), which is a pretty average size, you're still constantly banging into things; it just gets in the way. Try playing mid or front with a tippy and you'll see what I mean.
Not to mention that when you factor in all those upgrades, you could get a gun with those same features stock and cheaper.
If you're looking for an extremely reliable marker with good performance, you couldn't go wrong with a mag.

true. unless you could get a custom 2 way ram... not spring returned (which is what the ebolt has)

thanks. yesterday i took apart a c98 just to see how big the ram would need to be, how long, etc, and found that i can mill it to accept an impulse hammer assembly. then i could use an impulse ram, and just midify the stock impulse hammer. i could also just use a timmy solenoid. oh well, i'll look into their ram to. thanks...
...again :D

okay, changed things around a bit...
BSEBolt Kit
TPI Low Pressure Kit
CP Reg
Blade Alminum Trigger w/ Stops
I figured out how to mode the ram to get it to cycle 20-24 full cps not to mention the above setup w/ the gun and ultralight will only cost me about 300$ :D. Thanks every one!
Now all i need to do is get it ano'd in pink...
oh yeh, just to clear a couple things up:
Yes, i already have a couple guns.
No, this is not for me, it is for my friend's dad.

That marker is going to be uber hot when you finish it, pics and vids if you please.
You can't anno the Tippmann's cast aluminum body. You have to get it powder coated. I believe it is cbsforless.com offers quality powder coating for a very reasonable price.

one more question: with proper trigger stops, how short can i get the pull to be? would i have to modify it to get the pull under like 5mm?
E r y k
11-24-2004, 09:15 AM
heres the pull on my mech... on ebolt it can be much shorter/lighter.

1. www.pbgear.com (http://www.pbgear.com)
2. Like somebody else said about 13...
3. Why would you want to replace the Tippmann stock bolt? It should be fine. Boomsticks kick ***! Also, look into an ultralite too.
