is there a way to make it so I can have my 98c just shoot semi-auto without taking off the whole responce trigger thingy?

Yes. Your response trigger should come with some kind of screw that you use to replace the hose that goes into the power tube. that way it cuts off the air flow to the R/T and makes it normal.

Yes, you can disable your RT without removing from the gun. You need to remove the universal 90 degree fitting that is attached to the power tube and install the shut off plug provided.
If you need more information, the manual can be found here: http://www.tippmann.com/support/manuals.asp
