Another thing you can try is mass spam.

My cousin's team is really good and can beat some of the local teams, but they havent played in a single tourny yet. By sending out emails to every company they could, they are sponsored by a local proshop(like 10-20% off certain stuff) and just 2 days ago got sponsored by redz(35% off all stuff).

I do find it hard to believe though since they dont even have to do anything in return. Or maybe Redz was just feeling nice since it was thanksgiving...

or maybe Redz sponsors everyone, including my fictional team...

Redz has a """sponsorship""" package where you can order your gear straight from them, taking out the middle man (the retail) and lose the extra markup.

That's about it.

Sponsorship isn't about how good you are, it's about who you know in the industry.

If you make lots of friends it pays off.

Or you could go the harder way.
Practice, Win tourneys, repeat.

Hate to burst all your bubbles, but the industry is all relationship driven.

Even in the age of computers, AIM, e-mail, and even the telephone, nothing will get you sponsorship unless you WALK UP to the person who you want to sponsor.

I mean, yeah, you can get sponsorships through just phone calls and such, but are they going to be that good? It's really an impersonal medium.

But then again, what do I know.

My suggestion is to, generally speaking, avoid the advice of someone who can't spell sponsorship correctly.

Forest is right, you have to know people or know someone that knows people. The coach of my team knows countless people in the industry, and even though we don't play our first tournament until a couple of weeks from now, we already have companies watching us waiting for the results. If you can find someone that even just knows one person that's high up in the industry, you're already doing better than many other teams out there.

its true. Our team got "sponsored" and all we had to do was ask them. They pretty much hand them out

Easiest way is to join a team that's already sponsored......that's what I did.
