hey,

O.K. I been wondering about whats the deal with people and "quieter" barrels. Whats the advantage of having one over a normal one, besides playin outdoor in the woods or for sniping where you need better concealment. Plus its not like its silent....... ). Plus don't we all want those big *ss thundering gats?! I mean c'mon its paintball........the bigger a scene you cause the more fun no? Well I dont see a point to it....its not like its so noisy that it bothers your ear....plus i think there are more pending importants worries such as getting shot on the neck or the king's jewels.

i snuck up behind two peple shot about 6 times and hit em once (i hate the stock cocker barrel!!!):pissed:
well the didnt even turn around untill the guy go shot because they cudnt hear me.

and unles you can fire faster than a gatling gun, then it wouldnt matter but most of us cant.

I was shooting next to a model 98 with a stock barrel (loud) and it was deafening. The bunker was small so we were kinda close and i was trying to talk to him but he couldnt even hear me. Quieter barrels help inprove communication on the field, the noise doesnt always reveal your position (if the balls flying at the bunker doesnt)

i prefer silent barrels, because on a speedball field, or even in the woods, a loud barrel is very destictive. Basically, you're given away most of the time.
and silent barrels sound much better to the ear.

With all the action in paintball (speedball), a quiet barrel can be hard to hear. When your wearing a mask, that hurts your hearing. But when someone had a huge Dye Exel barrel and shoots that at you, its easily heard. A quiet barrel might be sorta loud up close but from 40 feet away with goggles, you never know...There has been times where I've shot at people from about 20 yards for 5-10 seconds and they didnt even notice. Quiet barrels are definatly worth it.
