One thing is to shoot a hella-ton of paint. You've gotta do cover fire like mad.
I play nothing but back so hopefully I can help. Some may disagree with me but I think back players are the most important position on the field. You have to have a real fast trigger finger and be able to rain down a ton of paint to cover your team mates. At the break of the game you need to be on the trigger ASAP. Try to find the lanes where the other team is moveing and dump paint into thost lanes. That will cause the other team to shorten up their movement and maybe get some elemiations. Once the game is on start talking. You will be the only person on the field that can command the whole team. The front and mids are usually jockeying for position and not watching as much. You have to be yelling out the opponants positions as they move and shoot. Keep your eyes open, don't get tunnel vision and try to play the whole game yourself. If you are focusing on only one area of the field you may end up getting one of your teammates bunkered because you didn't warn them or give them cover fire.
Just rember that you must work the field to it's fullest. Get to the field before the game. If you can do it the day before. Walk the field. Stand at the back bunkers and look at your angles and lanes. Walk through every scenario you can think of. Try to imiagne where you would move if you were playing front or mid. Cover those lanes first and then go with your secondary lanes. Always think. Don't decide that just because you are in the back of the field you don't have to focuse on the game. If anything, you have to do more thinking.
Good Luck with the position.
