difference between gen 1 and gen 2 fs

the gen 2 has a true 45* grip frame, a different board with the microswitch mounted directly on it, and the gen 2 bolt/valve, so its more efficient. All gen 2's also have black sideplates instead of having sideplates that are the same color as the back of the gun like the gen 1's had.

so is the gen 2 really that much better? b/c 200 bucks is alot for a better bolt.

Depends I suppose. The gen 2's come with a better board (better eye logic), new valve (a bit better efficiency) and a 45* frame (personal preference). The Gen1's can accept Chaos without tinkering (unlike the Gen2's).

It's mainly a difference of preference, eye logic and efficiency.

i think it'd be worth it to get the gen 2, but thats largely because I dont like that semi-vert frame on the gen 1.

The Gen. 2 did not have the High Efficiency bolt. They were not included until late in the production of the 04 FS. The cost difference is justified when you factor in the HE bolt.

my generation 2 came with a card for a free HE bolt if i ship the gun in...seems like a good deal to me...

i'm not trying to hijack this thread but does anyone here know how fast ICD's turn around on HE bolt upgrade is?

So, if I were to go out and buy an FS right now, it would be Gen-2, and include a card for a free HE bolt?

Also, will ICD be coming out with a "Gen-3" one with even more improvements? Such as the HE bolt?

EDIT - Or would that be the '05 Freestyle I'm talking about? Oh, and while I'm at it, do all the Gen-2 ones have that black faceplate thing? Because I was looking at a silver-fade one... that I think was Gen-2... and it had a silver faceplate. :|

almost all gen. 2s got 2nd generation bolts...only a few very recently came with HE stock...

i think the 05s with have the HE bolt stock...all generation 2s had the black side plates regardless of color (but it is possible to remove then and paint them or something...)
