reg not unscrewing

i can get the bottom half of the reg to unscrew, but the top part that the manual labels as part #52(reg top/ASA) won't come unscrewed from the front block. I am trying to install my new Vigilante reg, and i have tried everything short of a vise and pliers to get this thing off. I do have to remove it to screw in the new reg, correct? any ideas how to loosen it up? I don't want to screw it up too bad because i am selling the old reg and drop to my cousin for use on his dragunfire.

You are going to probably need a vice because the reg is most likely loktited in.

in that normal? Every other stock gun i've ever used, the reg/x-chamber/gas-thru grip wasn't put in with anything other than elbow grease and maybe a litle teflon tape. It is the stock reg that came with the gun that i'm trying to remove, in case i forgot to mention it.

My x-chamber on my imagine was loctited in. It takes quite a bit of force.

Get a piece of rubber and wrap around the reg and then take your pliers and try to unscrew it. It will prevent scratches and gives the pliers a better grip. This is what I did and it worked without any problems.

heres what i did -
remove the front block from the gun
take a piece of rubber or something and wrap it around the top part of the reg
clamp a vise grips on it really tight so it wont slip at all
hold onto the front block, use the block/volumizer as a handle
tap the handle of the vice grips on the ground, so that the reg will twist off - the shock should help break it free easier.

Put your V/A in a vice, and use a strap wrnch to unscrew the reg. If it's loctited in, you may need to heat it up to break it loose!
