View Full Version : Thinking of getting a TES.

OK guys, I need some advice about the TES. I've played paintball for a while (5 years or so) I've had a bunch of guns over the years, spyder, cocker, bko, angel, and a phantom at one point.
Now that I'm in college, I don't have the time to play paintball all the time, so owning an angel didn't really make much sense to me. I want a cheap electro that works well, and is reliable.
If I get a TES, I'll run it off CO2. It's more convenient and cheaper than HPA. In terms of upgrades, I'll probably just get a barrel and reg (maybe a microswitch) Is there anything else that would be really beneficial to it? I don't want to make it a money pit, but a couple small upgrades would be OK. (I heard something about an eye upgrade)
So what I'm asking is, does it sound like the TES is right for me? Do the eyes work decently well? Will it run well on CO2 (probably anti-siphoned)? What color should I get?

MOST OF THEM COME OUT OF THE FACTORY LEAKING, BUT THAT IS VERY EASILY FIXED WITH SOME TEFLON TAPE.

AND SCENARIODREAMS IS MAKING A TBOARD FOR THE DRAGUN, BUT YOU WANT TO BE CHEAP, SO I WOULDN'T LOOK AT THAT TOO MUCH.

The tes... It's cheap and fast for the cost. Tons of factory-leaks/etc, and stuff like that. It's definately not a reliable marker, unless you invest a lot of time into it. I know a few TES owners, and they all have had problems. One guy invested time (and not too much money) into his, and it works fine. The others aren't very satisfied with the TES. Then again, the other choices for "Cheap Electro" aren't way too reliable either. If reliability is your priority, don't get the TES. If you have some spare time, it'll do pretty dang well out of the box (after you fix it >.<)

yes a TES isnt reliable, uh huh, most defects are in factory or user errors, i got my tes fixed easily, all i did was just change my 9 volt to a 9.6 volt, most Tes's that come out are fixed

It still isn't a very reliable marker when fixed.

Does the TES use standard air fittings and standard inline holes? That was always something that annoyed me with spyders. So most TESes come with leaks huh? Sounds kind of iffy. So does the TES break down when you're playing often?

They use funky air fittings and offset holes.:|
The leaks can be fixed with teflon tape, but if you are that worried you could get a spyder imagine with tboard for ~180 bucks.
And the tes, from what I have seen, doesn't seem to break down on the field unless you run out of air.:|
the dragun brand is some what of a tricky brand. From what I heard and seen from other TES owners here on Pbreview. Some people have tons of problem with the TES while others have absulutly no problem what so ever. So It's up to you. Do you feel lucky punk? Well, do you? Anyways, i guess what's better is question is. Are you willing to put the time and effort to deal with these little problems? If you are knowledgable paintballer and know how a marker works, or you're smart enough to look it up here in pbreview, You can get you're TES "tuned" and ready in no time. And if you are the kinda guy that wants the TES to be out of the box ready, Then maybe the TES ain't the best buy. But I do have to say, the price for this baby is pretty darn tempting. And if you do purchase it, You have to get a new barrel.

they are inline holes, not offset
the torid now is $139 for the holidays and i think that would be a bit more reliable than the tes right out of the box, but it has no eye, your choice

The TES hardly breaks down on the field, but it seems to break after you go. As for reliability, I always see my friends fixing their TES's after playing . They require more maintanence than the unluckiest of cocker owners' markers, but don't break on the field too often.

also since the TES eyes are reflective and not break beam... if you think or feel their unreliable, you could get one of those JAM anti chop bolts. If the eyes are fine when u shoot fast and with different paint colours then getting a new bolt isnt so important, i think. Check the upgrade thread to see what you might want to up with the money you have.

tes is the best money i have ever spent on a backup gun. seriously. i have not had one problem with it accept a pinched wire and that was my fault. i have had 0 chops out of 4000 balls and i have had 0 barrel breaks with stock barrel. i can get 15 bps on the chrono too. i got mine on ebay from mcpro or somthing i forgot his name just a hint. they are very good and reliable markers for dirt cheap. even tho i use my imp more, i will never sell my tes unless i have to.

Get a spyder imagine, and the acs bolt. As good as eyes, and very reliable.

Dude, just stop taking the thread off topic.
Anyway, Kowz, from what you are saying the TES is just right for you. Also any problems that you do have (if you have any) will be small leaks that will be fixed with a two dollar roll of teflon. Just check out the stickies and the website in my profile and you'll find more then enough information.

The same type, not the exact same emitter/receiver.
