I have a 98 custom and my friend has an A-5. i like how a-5's look but i think an electronic hopper on your 98 would be more reliable than the cyclone feed i've seen my friends cyclone feed break almost everytime we play. And they are basically the same gun just with a different look and the cyclone feed. But if you dont like your 98 custom, then you should get the A-5.

I would say that if you already have a 98 and don't like it maybe its time to look at higher end markers. Cockers, Mags, BKO, B2k, Impulse, just to name a few. No sense buying another low end marker.

buying a a-5wouldbe competly pointless. It has basically teh same performance as a Tippmann 98 custom, mnd from what ive seen its a gas hog. Buy the Empire reloader 2 and ul be straight.

wouldnt it be nice if you knew what you were talking about??? But you dont... The A-5 is maybe a "gas hog" but how about you get all day air??? you probably already do! So stop complaining about air or just get a scuba tank.

Buy the Empire reloader 2 and ul be straight. you are insanely stupid.... an empire reloader b for a tippmann what is the matter with you:eyes: do you really think he can pull out a good 20 bps on a tippmann... like as already been stated either upgrade you 98 to a point that you like or buy a totally new higher end gun that you will be happy with, and just incase you ask what ups you should buy here they are
electric hopper:empire reloader( not b the regular one)
a new barrel: something like a cp1 piece,j&j ceramic, or a smart parts progressive
a double trigger: despite what ppl may say it does help you get faster speeds and it has a lighter trigger pull
and then any equipment you may need which would be like a new mask and harness

You actually just proved yourself to be insanely stupid. He's talking about the new re-designed emipre reloader, not the emipire reloader b.
Go to pbgear.com, and check it out, its ugly but better.

I think that if you are wanting a new gun to get a higher end marker and HPA. That all depends on how much you are willing to dump into another gun.
If youre not willing to, then just get an electric hopper. That will likely be the cheapest route.

also even if you do get a hopper that feeds 20bps that means you wont need to waste future money on another when you go high end.....If you plan to at least.

to me it sounds like he wants more firepower. I'd recomend going to the spyder imagine (if you have a low budget). Oh btw i hate spyder with all my heart.

dont ditch ur m98 for a used price just for an a5.....u end up losing a bunch of cash, a big hassle, just for a gun with pretty much the same performance :eyes: . If you ditch ur gun, take a step up to a rt pro mag or a BKO.

I know this wasn't his question but, for the price of an A-5 you could buy a stock Automag.

You need to be more specific about what you don't like about the 98c in order for anyone to offer very good advice IMO.

why don't you like your 98c that would help us help you
Dont go from a Tippmann to a Tippmann. You would want to actually upgrade.

im def talkin bout the empire reloader which feeds like 14 or so im not talkin bout the b. Thats like 150 , The reloader like 45. so dont say im stupid. And i would also say upgrading to another tippmann , not a good idea like said befor, the A-5 is kool but you could get a BkO for around the same price. Or you could mod up your tippmann more. What is your setup for it?

Definatly buy this gun, you won't regret it! It has superior and accuracy. YOu can do pretty much anthing to your gun you want. It is very durable. Definatley get a flatline though it adds so much accuracy and distance

most low end guns have the exact same accuracy buddy.. the barrel makes the diferance, and the flatlines accuracy isnt that great and the accuracy past 100 feet is unbelievalby horable. Spending 100 $ on a Stiffie or an UL is a much better choice.

A5 = tippmann 98 with a quicker field strip and a faster (but bigger) hopper. Up your 98 or get a different gun. Oh, and automags 68 classics run less than A-5's. RT ULE's run a bit more (370 bare naked minimum, 450 ish for a kick-*** one). You could get a tricked out used RT ule for the same as an A5. No point in buying brand-new mags, they're more time-resistant and durable than Tippmann's.

Oops :P Well its more like 353. You'd have to be an idiot not to pay 10$ for a ULE body. And there's the 3$ shipping and such.

I don't know what you are talking about i can shoot over three hundred feet every time with my flatline. And those other barrels are terrible, your better off sticking with the stock barrel, which is good as far as stock barrels go.

Actually, the Flatline makes the ball about as accurate as a ball can be.

get an 04 vf cocker or wgp pro stock (their the same gun)
for 360$$ tippmann sucks they keep remaking 1 gun like
tippmann 98 camo 290$, tippman model 98, tippmann 98 custom, their all basically the same gun dont waste your money on tippmann.

If you are going to own a tippmann, the A5 is a far better choice. If you can trade (one way or another) your 98 for an A5, do it and then go get a better gun. Your A5 will then be a nice backup gun.

i were in your shoes i would do the following:
1) save up a wee more cash to buy a automag or minimag(with the classic valve)
or
2) Buy the darn A-5
or
3) add a ebolt to your 98custom
the reason i didn't mention a higher-end gun like the bko is because i assume you own a co2 system not nitro or Hpa.
Co2 will work, but not well with markers like the BKO or Omen. You could get an autococker, but beware, many problems could occur if you buy it used and not properly maintained.
i also want to upgrade my Rodeo to sumthing else, i know the Mag is a good choice but like yourself, the A-5 is a little tempting. Help me too!:(

I thought automags hated co2.

Just X and RT valves
Not classic valves.

Do you really think that an automag classic is that much better than an A5? An automag RT with a lvl 10 and a halob or empire reloader b is better of course, but that would cost a lot more than an A5 RT with an antisyphoned co2.

don't waste your time with a clasic automag. you need to get a micro mag, or one of the new bodies that takes cocker barrels.
Automag nubbins are the most inconsistent things in paint ball, and you have to pay a ton of attention to it (too much in my oppinion) for them to work right.

automags were made before HPA was even made, so the only thing they ran on was c02. there are different valves right now to suit the HPA for the mag.
