What are the chances?
How many have you seen in your playing days?
I'm talking about a ball pentrating the lense.
I keep reading about people shooting at 400 FPS,
Arent most masks rated for only 300 FPS?
Thanks for your help.

Infact just yesterday.
Playing a "marshal day" at my site, marshals (refs) and invitees only, reffed by hired paintball marshals and some airsoft fanatics.
One of the airsofters had a pair of goggles on his head - first thing no face plate, no bigger only your teeth only gonna hurt like a biatch. Then looking at his lense it had a dent in it!
At which point I told a friend next to me and about 3 of use went over to talk to him. He took off the goggles, the lens was a thin bit of plastic, and immediatly we all said "Thats not gonna stop a paintball" he was adamant that it would, thankfully he wasnt a jack-*** and he tested it with a little BB pistol at point blank range.
Went straight through, clean. At which point he looked like he was about to **** himself and he went off to get some paintball goggles :D
I saved a mans life, i feel proud.
Paintball masks are tested to destruction bascially, they have to be able to withstand a shot at point blant at about 500fps i think, probably more.
Markers are rated at 300fps, but that can be altered remember. Spyders have a real problem with that, you have to cut the spring to get it down apparently.

i've also heard that they test paintball goggles to the extreme but in the jt manual they say paintball guns going over 300 can break the lens or something. so does that mean a paintball going 320 can break through or are they just saying that to scare the poop out of ppl so they don't screw around???

They are saying that because they are not going to pay for your glass eyeball if the lense breaks and you were playing at more than 300fps.

This is exactly why I stress the importance of chronoing before every game I'm involved with! What's your eyesight worth? Invest in a hand held unit they're less than a 80 bucks!
Try buying yourself some vision for that price!
