I shot my gun at one outing and I was shooting noticibly slower than everybody else. The balls only broke when hitting hard body parts such as shins. Also everybody said that they couldn't even feel it when I shot them. Yesterday I hadn't changed my velocity screw and the temperature was the same but I was chronying in at 411 fps. Then when I went to change my velocity I did as Tippmann says and unscrewed the screw. This brought the velocity down to about 400. I had to crank the screw in as far as it would go to get my gun down to 280 fps. What is the deal here?

Co2 is your problem.

THe cold weather is effecting your co2 tank. The pressure is not high enough so your velocity is dropping.

Actually the temp. was the same and the velocity rose not dropped.

I am having the same problem with my 98 custom, except i have the screw all the way in and i cant get it below 300 fps. I know its not the temperature because it has been like that everytime ive played. and i only play in the summer, because i live in minnesota and it gets way to cold to play in the winter. and on the days ive played it was probably 70's or 60's out. so if anyone knows what the problem is then you would be helping both of us.
thanks

Your spring might be to tight. We had the same problem with my friends old 68 carbine with a new spring in it. The field owner cut a couple coils off the spring and he was good to go. You can try this or get a spring kit. But I would wait utill you play again before you do anything, your marker might be fine next time. IF YOU DO CUT THE SPRING ONLY CUT A COIL OR TWO AT A TIME if you cut to much you wont have enough velocity

Could be a bunch of stuff. Could just be your co2 is spiking really bad. I tend to see most tipp98s running hot. Thats due to the lack of a good expansion chamber and the spring stack being to tight.
