View Full Version : Unreliable Team Members
Have you guys ever played with someone that is completly unreliable?
I was playing 2 verse all with my friend who is deffinitely the best out of all of us. We came up with a plan to take all the other guys out. The plan was that I would sneak along the top of a steep bank which leads down to a creek, while he would initiate things by provoking the other team into a shoot out in the woods on the other side of the creek. I was crawling along in the tall grass along the creek up to where my oponents were. I made it up to a place where I would have clear shot at all of the people on the other team. I waited and waited for him to fire against the other team, but he never did. After a while someone from the other team was able to spot me and about 8 guys started taking shots at me. I was totally exposed, because the grass wasn't very dense and I couldn't move away from the creek, because of a fence that is right next to me that marks the East boundary of our field. I got shot up about 20 times. That was a painful experience.
After that my opponents went back to the woods to get my friend out, and of course, my friend was able to get them all out and win the game!

I have problems with my teammates being unreliable too.. but we are getting headset radios so we all know what each other is doing..

haro, I guess I'm missing something? If your team won who cares! Had your teammate drawn their fire first, you would have shot them up. However it was the other way around correct? You guys still won the battle correct? It's just you're the guy with all the welts right!
I just hate how he always plays solo, even know he agrees to play as a team. It ticks me off when you come to an agreement about something and the other person falls through.
Another thing is that the game would have been over in 10 minutes if he'd stuck to the plan, but the game ended up taking an hour and a half, because he had to single each guy out.
Another thing Killer Kat, its not much of a team when you don't play together. I minus well have just played solo against everyone, or he should have just played solo against everyone.

man i hear you with your unreliable team mates.....im only like 13 but ive got a team and weve got 2nd place in a few tournaments and one of my guys stays in the back the whole time......i mean hes our back player and all and i try to tell him that if he wants to be our back player then he has to lay down lots of paint and pin down the guys so we can move up.....he doesnt have a pack and rarely even shoots 200 balls in a round.....and then the other guy on my team knows like nothing about paintball and thought his stock spyder barrel would fit on my cocker  i wouldnt mind going on another team because i know some guys that want me but they are like my best friends and its a hard choice.....and it sux 4 u that u got shot 20 times!

i have the same problem. my best friend david has a stock spyder shutter and he doesn't really want to be a back player but he, "doesn't want to move" or when he does he has to find like 500 possible trees to move to. the thing is he is my best friend so i don't wanna tell him he sucks or yell at him but damn i mean damn.
i play kinda like a tape runner in the woods, i move up until i see the opponents and then i shoot til i get some out then keep moving up. my friend sits in the back looks around for places to SLOWLY VERY SLOWLY move up.
i mean yesterday, i shot approximately 230 shots as a tape runner. he is the back player and he shot....a new record high.....35 shots exactly, he freaking counted. now excuse me but i thought a back player was supposed to shoot so fast he can't even count his paint by 10's or 20's but this kid counts em by ones and doesn't even get his damn shoes dirty.
now he is upgrading to get my barrel. but damn, that kid has to take some mother ****ing risks, he's been hit before but we stopped playing for a while and he hasn't been hit in like 6 months and i don't think he ever wants to get hit again.
i'm gonna shoot him next time if he's on my team. are you allowed to do that?

i hate being stuck with a bunch of noobs but i know that its the only way they'll ever learn. when im stuck with them i try to scare the **** out of them by taking them all the way up the field and this one time i took them up and i told them to shoot where i did, when i did, and some guy jumps up and i yell "shoot him" and they didnt shoot because i told them to SHOOT when i shot, not SHOOT when i told them so i got nailed and they just ran back to the back of the field UN F"in BELIEVEABLE! i didnt have time to shoot at him because i was stuck in a bush trying to get a good position on the flag and the noobs were in purfect line of sight with the guy!

Hey the answer is rotate. You're playing more than just one game right expose them to as many different situations as ya can, And then after talk about what was good as well as what went bad. Remember practice make permanent! No likes making the same mistakes!

I'm TRYING to hold my team together but it is barely working. Nobody seems committed besides me and my friend Mike. The other 3 are like I can't make it to practice or my mom won't let me spend anymore money on paintball. It pisses me off now and I'm thinking of just breaking the team up so me and my friend mike can just start over but I don't wanna hurt anyone elses feelings but I may have too. What would you do?

Get rid of them - start new. Lay down the line to them, tell them if they can't even play then they won't be on the team.
There, now that I've answered that question, perhaps someone could help me with mine:
I'm starting a team with my friends. Two of my friends are like me, not good but not shabby either, and improving. The other two (the two that got us into the game) are rich, spoiled and...*thinks for the right word*..."big-boned" (in other words, they SUCK!) They haven't improved since they started, they don't get any eliminations but they have nice guns (Tippmanns) and are two of my good friends. I want to be a good team but I know we won't get anywhere with these two, they aren't any better then the average newbie. They both want to be on the team, what should I do?

well your in the same position as me so you can either kick them off, practice with them privately and teach them, or just live with their playing status.

Yeah, I guess. The main difference is that my friends suck and your friends just don't want to, or can't.
I just figure it would be easier to tell you teammates no if they can't play, my friends CAN play and WANT to, they just suck, and won't improve (I can just tell you know?) All they do is stay at the very back and shoot, problem is, they don't communicate, they don't move and most importantly, DON'T HIT ANYBODY! EVER!
I think I'm gonna try my luck with them for a while, doing some small tournaments and if they really stink us up then I'll have to dump 'em.
My only other problem is I'm still fighting for captain position with my friend...but I'm sure we'll work it out.

i was the captain but my friend kinda got pissed because he thought of starting a team but I thought of the name (Team Wreckin EFFX). I just gave the captain position to him and he handles it pretty good. About your friends, try to have some practices with them. Are they afraid to get hit? Do what i did when i started out. Have em stand 20-30 FT away and shoot 3 or 4 paintballs at them. That's how I learned not to be afraid of getting hit. You can also play "duckhunt" with them. That will definately teach them to not be afraid.

how do u play duck hunt?
my friend used to be more aggressive when it was me vs him.
but now its like us 3 vs 2 others (who are about the same skill) so we outnumber them. but i think he's gotten scared of getting hit. so i need a game to play with him and the other future team members that will almost guarantee that they get hit, without making it seem like a massacre:D .
this was our last scenario, close your eyes and imagine this is happening: u have a point position, u r the farthest up on your team, with a teamate to your right and back about 15 yards and the closet opponent 50 feet in front and another 60 feet front left.
u take 10 shots at close guy, hit him 1 time. he says we're playing for points so he stays there. you hit him 2 more times later on. the guy on your front left keeps shooting at you so you can only force him down a little bit and then take cover yourself.
the rest of your team (3 others) are running away although NOT EVEN ONE SHOT WAS FIRED TOWARDS THEM..they are running cause they are scared probably. later on they claim to have hit the guy in the front 2 times and i only hit him 1 time. makes you wanna kill them. and then they say they like sitting down in the woods ambushing people. when they run away when the opponents are 50 yards out.
sorry this is long but what should i do i'm really pissed, ":pissed:"
gosh, and these are my best friends by the way.
also, dude with the rich friends, don't even let them play for a little bit because then when u dump them it will be even worse because you'll probably dump them to get some other people who are better. now you'd just be saying that the team is already full.
hope this helps and i hope others help me.

duckhunt is played by having a person go out, hide, and the rest of the people go out and search for the duck and try to shoot him.

i like the mole better
its where the ref pics 2 people on each team to be the mole and during the game, the ref will yell "mole mole mole" and when he does, the mole has to start shooting his own team mates or else the refs will start shooting the moles if they dont do anything
actually my favorite game is president.

mole sounds awesome. You godda watch out for some of your team members and the real opponents. I like challenging games like that.
Thor the Mighty
12-22-2001, 02:54 PM
yeah. when im the mole i tell my friends to be moles too so we just run around shooting people sometimes :)
Wreckin Effx
12-22-2001, 02:58 PM
do the refs tell the whole team who the moles are?
Thor the Mighty
12-23-2001, 02:17 PM
hell no! if they did the people would just "accidentaly" shoot the moles before they were called on
get revenge by doing the same scenario and as soon as the game starts shoot him and brag to him that you snuck up on him a took him out with one shot at point blank!

Alright, here's my story, if you guys can help me please do. I have a friend named william. He is convinced that he is the almighty Ra of sinper. He will go into the forest, cover himself with leaves and wait for someone to walk past. He is SO bad that he has played for three years and has (count them) three kills. I can't convince him that he is a crap sniper. Help me please. I usually play one on one with him.

tell him that for the most part snipers are worthless and to teach him to move up have him play a speedball game against lots of people on a real small field

i just got finished with a one on one against my friend david, who if you read my above posts, never moves.
he was moving like crazy!! which is fine with me because then we found each other quickly and had fun. then i asked him why he didn't do that when it was a 3 on 2 and we had the 3.
he said, "its more fun when you outnumber them to run away and wait in ambush."
the funny thing is, he always makes noise and he has a shiny red shutter which sticks out in teh woods and he always gets killed when he sits there, but he is convinced it works.:|

unreliable teamates are a pain. Thats why the team im on is holding tryouts to see which of 3 people is overall the best. i hope it solves the problem. We got one who has experience, but is as good as noob, a noob who is good, but played once in his life, and someone who has reasonable skill and experience, but somewhat of a burden.
