The tank comes empty, and yes, the barrel unscrews. It accepts Spyder threads, and please note a Spyder is a MUCH better choice. Go read the post in the newbie forum called "So, you want to buy a gun" by me. You'll find it most helpful and you won't waste your money.

i know three people who had avengers and all three of them broke. i am not lying. the avenger has a manufacturing problem. the cocking knob is not strong enough it always breaks. it also has bad o-rings inside it. get another gun. i suggest spyder xtra or a the new PMI trracers.

I work at a paintball shop, and we get avengers that come into the shop for repairs more then any gun. However the most common problem that I have noticed is that users (usually new players to the sport) dont understand the importance of using paintball oil to lube up thier markers.
I always have to replace bolt o-rings, because of improper or no lube has been applied. Other then that it's a good marker to start off with.

Yeah, all three did not take care of their guns like i do. They are okay i guess, but not like a tippy or a spyder. they are cheaper though. I would not suggest an avenger i would suggest finding a better used gun if you can find one to see if you like paintball.

the avenger is probably okay as long as you take care of it. i hear its pretty bad on o-rings, though. i don't like the vert feed on it, but that doesn't really matter. yes it does accept spyder barrels. i would get a spyder compact because they are $10 less and are twice as good.

Based on what I've seen the Avengers that don't work straight out of the box need to be lubed up and then they work just fine.

for $109 on pbgear you can get a spyder 2+1 java. they are way better. my brother had a raptor and the only real problem with it was the stupid connecting pin that holds the two chambers together kept breaking. so if you do get an avenger i suggest you stock up on those conecting pins. i recomand looking at spyders on pbgear. you will not be dissapointed.:) :)

For what its worth, BE upgaded the connecting pin in the Raptors, Silver Eagles and Avengers etc, to eliminate the problem with the breaks.

Well, anything is possible, you may be right. My friend, however has owned an Avenger for several months and run plenty of paint through it without any problems. I have another friend who just got a Silver Eagle and so far so good.
My info came from a BE dealer who got the info from his BE sales rep.
How long ago did your brother have his gun?

I had a Avenger it was kinda good when i got (of corce i was a newbie) but then one of the seals on it broke then the little meshng in the c02 adapter thing dissapeared then the cocking knob broke off and then it wouldn't work. Then i went and got a new one and the sme thing happened, so in my conclusion the Avengr is a kinda god gun 4 a newbie if he takes care of it.

Just make sure if it breaks to take it right back to the store where you bought it and get a refund. Also make sure it comes with a good warantee. when i bought my old talon i had to keep taking it back twice before getting one that worked. Brass Eagle actually has warehouses which are stacked full of thousands of broken guns (ones people returned) is what this paintball dealer guy told me and he would know.

I believe your right, that was before they came out with the Avenger. My understanding was that they didn't beef up the connecting pin in the various BE guns until about the same time they came out with the Avenger.
