Looks like I'm going to be getting myself a TES. The question I have is, if I can only afford say a 45/3kpsi nitro tank, should I bother with it or just get co2 until I can afford a bigger nitro tank?

Just get an anti-siphon if u want. You can run it on regular co2. But i would save the money for a bigger tank. You would probably get like 400-500 shots with the tank your looking at.

arent like all size tanks the same price. Wait till you can afford a 68/45

or if you dont mind packing around aluminum, get a 77/3000 tank for less than the 68. (edit- oops my bad, its a 72/3000 http://www.paintballexpress.com/product_list-4.asp?dept=86&last=86)
a 20oz anti-siphon co2 is what I'd recommend to start out with if you dont have the cash for hpa. the tes...it can shoot a lot, and shoot fast right out of the box. just by practicing walking the trigger on mine, and watching the shot counter, the hopper would be empty in no time, and a 68/3000 would be empty by the third time that my fingers stiffen up. So if you are going to be playing on the field, then you definitely want a tank that can feed it, if you plan on shooting a lot.
and unless its a really good deal, dont pay the prices for one that you'd pay in a shop. shop around on ebay. several of us here in this section have gotten our TES's for about 160 off ebay.

approx how many shots would you get out of the 72/3k ?

well it varies from marker to marker, but on an average for 3k tanks, you are going to get ten shots per cubic inch. so at 72 inches, you'd get an average figure of 720 shots.

i bought that tank not too long ago for my tes
getting around 800 shots with polished internals, harder main, 350-400psi 280-285fps
edit:
it fits fine on the stock drop, but it will make it back heavy, get a bigger drop if you want a balanced gun

hey thanks for posting that TESballer. I've been keeping my eye on that one for when I can afford a tank. I was worried about having to get a new drop forward, line and front ex chamber.

its not a x chamber its a regulator, and dont worry about the drop if u get anything from pmi compressed tanks dont worry

i got a crossfire 68/4500 and i had to get a new drop because the gauge on the tank hits the rail and wont screw in all the way and now im trying to figure how to connet every thing because i dont want to spend another 80-100$ on another regulator. I gotta go and try my local hardware store for fittings this is a real pain in the ***** why cant the paintball companys all decide on univesal fittings

xsuperflyaznguy- have you tried using a micro dial on the tank? I think that you can get those at most of the bigger hardware stores for under or around 10 bucks. the smaller dial might clear the grip. definitely cheaper to try that first.
(edit- just make sure that it measures for the pressure of your tank)
Edit 2- there are also a couple of other alternatives. You can get a thread adapter to plug your line into the new drop. Not sure what those cost right off the top of my head. But I'm thinking they are under or around 10 bucks also.
or you could hook up a remote for your tank. some peeps love remotes, other peeps hate um. But it is another option.
And I totally agree. Universal fittings mounts, screw-threads would be awesome. Wish the same thing for automobiles!
teswkit- oh! heh I guess I got confused again. LOL.
thanks for the correction ;) and for the info on the pmi tanks also :)

well i wanted the on off vaulve on the drop and i also like the look of the stock tank gauge. Oh and i dont know any pro shops sround here so i dont want to mess around with my 180$ tank. plus i already order the catagory 5 drop so lots of work for me would be alot EZer if i could drive(in 3 months) so i gota bum rides off of people
I really dont get why they dont have universal fitting would make things alot EZer. must be for the money.

get this (http://www.anythingxtreme.com/Smart-Parts-Preset-OnOff-Female-Valves-P2116C1408.aspx) it will add enough room to clear the grip plus now you'll have a on/off

ah ok, well since you already got the drop....
well, you could still use the line adapter if you wanted to, so that you wouldnt have to swap out your reg. here's an example of what they look like.

lol funny u showed me that
Here i go
Well i bought one of those from paintballgear.com. the dragun ones are even smaller then the spyder fitting so i ordered it before i got the gun in. waste of money. u have a TES right well look at the fittings on it and the one conneted to the regulator or the ASA ( the thing that the tank goes into i think) thing they are differt then every thing else. so i got to try and find 1/8 fitting and use the stock steel hose.

oh shoot, yeah this is the exact opposite of what you'd need. You'd need one that goes from metric to 1/8, not 1/8 to metric like this one.
I dunno, let me ask a buddy of mine about this, it might be possible that you could get them dye and tapped so that they are opposite, without compromising their integrity. I'll get back to ya on it.
