I'm fairly new to paintball and need some advice on a marker.
I'm purchasing a Spyder Xtra and have two choices. Both are selling for $150 (canadian).
Choice 1:
Spyder Xtra (2years old)
32 Degree expansion chamber
smart part progressive barrel
12oz co2, barrel plug, hopper
Choice 2:
Spyder Xtra (less than 1 year old)
IPI electronic trigger frame
sweet spot trigger
16in 3A barrel
stock barrel and trigger frame
12oz and 20oz co2, hopper, metal hopper adapter, extra striker.
The choice seems obvious, but I wanted to solicit some advice.

I've always hated buying used stuff...but that's just me.
The second choice is much more bang for the buck.
The first gun is nothing special. The expansion chamber isn't all that great, neither is the barrel.
The second gun comes with an e-frame (never used the IPI so I have no idea how good it is. You might want to keep that in mind and take a look at the connections, wires, and switches to get an idea of how well the gun was taken care of)
The barrel on the second gun is a bit long and I would definitely find a new one because I prefer one around 12". I would also want to know why this guy (or girl) is selling the gun for what seems to be very cheap. Are they getting out of the sport or have they been having problems with it. I will say that 97% of problems with a Spyder can be fixed in 10 minutes or less when you have the right parts and tools.
Also, with the E-frame, you will want an electronic hopper. It's good the Xtra is coming with a hopper adaptor because the plastic one that comes with the gun will break eventually. I bought an adjustable Lapco one for $24 or so a long time ago.
Anything else?

I'd go with #2 also. because its newer, and it comes with the original parts. having the electronic trigger is a plus also. that 3a barrel gotta go tho!
also like Codestar said, find out why they selling it, and if they had probs with it.

Thanks for the reply guys. Good advice. I haven't heard anything good about the 3A barrels. In fact I can't find them reviewed abywhere.

yeah, the only thing wrong with #2 is the crappy 3A barrel. but, at least it comes with an electronic frame. get that one, and get it a CP 1 piece right away ;)

yeah, 3A is a blackmark around here. PBreview has banned them cause they were making their own reviews for their products, and for other bad biz practices. plus...they make shoddy products.
Hope you like the marker, and above all else.....have fun with it! :)

Meh, the progressive is a great barrel. It doesn't have crappy porting all along it which makes it less efficient. Still, #2 is better. But 150$ canadian is still a bad deal, since an imagine has a much better frame and costs less.

Look into a Imagine before you buy your Xtra. Its only $20 more.
Get number 2 for sure, youre getting way better stuff and its newer, whats the condition for the markers though. one gun can be 2 years old and be 10 times better condition than the year old gun.

I've taken all your advice and decided that the Xtra fits my needs for now.
So for about $115 US, I get what's mentioned on my first post (choice 2).
I saw the Xtra brand new at Paintball Discounters in Ohio for $75 US. Of course I'd have to buy everything else that comes with the used gun. With the exception of the 3A barrel, which according to you guys I should probably get rid of, I'd end up buying everything else.
Still a good deal?

ok, well bear in mind that I am quoting american prices, not canadian.
$75- xtra
$15-20 - 12 0z co2 (20 oz tank for 20-30)
IPI electro frame (no clue)
sweetspot trigger $15 (zenitram is better for 5 dollars more)
decent barrel upgrade $30+
so without counting the electro frame you come up about even, or slightly more than option 2
edit- oh....and thats not counting shipping costs if you order the stuff online.
my bro got the IPI trigger for like 70-80 dollars off the internet, thats about the average price you can get it for.
