I've noticed lots of people on this site use drop forwards to even there gun out some. Why don't you guys use remotes? I don't use either but am looking to use one or the other. Which one do you prefer and why. What is the best remote/drop forward?

Thanks,

I dont' like remotes. The hose always gets in my way and makes the harness heavy. I like the on gun setup, and my tank acts like a stock anyways.

go for the drop foward if your gun is unbalanced. I dont like remotes for one thing is that the pack gets to heavy and its kinda hard to run. But if your gun is heavy get a remote. They both are good. Its just your preference.

I just prefer the drop forward. They look cool, and i don't like the idea of getting my remote line caught up on something.

i've played remote a couple times, it makes my gun feel front heavy, i'm gunna save up some money and go for the drop forward.

I used to use a remote..then I got a N2 tank and it doesn't fit in my harness....so...a drop is it...plus I got tired of being tied to my gun..and I hated the feeling of it being pulled back when I switched to my other hand to shoot out the other side of a bunker

i dont like remotes.. the pod pack gets really heavy and its really hard to switch hands cause hose gets caught up all over the place and it makes the gun unbalaced and unstable.. its okay maybe for a way back player if you perfer a remote but playing front you should definatly get a drop forward, it will make gun more compact and balanced, you can snap shoot well

yeah i htink remotes are better for back players cuz they dont' have to move around as much, and they need the big tank for alot of shots, and it would be really awkward to put the tank ongun..

If i were you i'd try 'em both out, see what you like, you might like the remote better, just borrow your friends remote for a game or something.

Its like a car you got too test drive it too see which you perfer.I use a remote alot and dont never seem too be a problem for me.When i set up for nitro i going with a drop forward on my Impluse, but my mag stay remote.

Id get a drop forward because I think remotes get in the way too much and I wouldnt feel right with them around because your gun would be so light and I wouldnt be able to get used to it.

Ya buy a drop forward. I like the way it looks with the gun, I had one on my old piranha pro, and it made it look slik. I also like the tank being part of the gun, it adds a lil weight which makes for more balanced shots. Neway, go with whatever u want i guess it's all self preference.

i wi;; get a drop-for...it shortens up your gun,you still have the tank as a stock, lighter on your back so you wony hurt it.

Drop Foward. I think remotes are one of the worst things a paintballer can get. Just my opinion though.

Witt
03-25-2001, 09:31 AM
Yeah...Why a remote...Its just because some people dont like the extra weight :):)

I don't know- it's preference. Remotes take the weight off your gun- but make it front heavy. You won't really need an x-chamber if you have a remote- and steel braided are better for the woods. I prefer an on-gun system- but I have the sniper role- and remotes cause WAY to much desturbance in the brush.

you defiantely need a foregrip of some from if you're gunna get a remote, or your gun will be VERY front heavy

I love my remote, But I also have a shoulder stock. It looks cool, and my tank is suprisingly light in the pack. But the buckle broke when taking it off(32 degreese pack, cheap ***) I love the feel, it is better, for me than a tank, and helps act like an ex chamber, although I already got one.

I dont give a darn about weight,I use co2 so the remote helps let it gas more, plus I use the tank on my paranha.I have a gas thur stock also I use in rec games.Like i siad before just cause someone dont like something dont mean someone else does. Let someone try something once if they don't like it then go the other rt.Same with diffrent markers some like this one and that. But don't mean i going too like it.I can get a cocker anytime I want too ,but I dont like them. But I dont tell people not to buy one cause i dislike the marker

Jamez Bond

Exactly- as long as the gun is'nt back heavy- or in double-digit pounds, I am fine. I don't care how heavy the front is. And I don't like cockers- heavy, and expensive. Kinda fragile for my style.

Try and find someone who will let you try a remote. My wife has had wrist surgery so she uses a remote to keep her gun light. I dont like them for most of the reasons already posted here. The Lapco drop forward & stock combo works great for me.

ok, thanks for all the info, I think I will get a remote. I don't like how the drop forwards make a gun look. So for those with a remote, what is better coiled remote or non coiled?

Thanks

Jamez Bond
04-08-2001, 06:33 PM
iT DEPENDS- IF YOU PLAY WOODLAND- OR DON'T LIKE SOMETHING IN YOU WAY AS MUCH- USE A STEEL BRAIDED. Coiled act as an x-chamber from all the extra space to expand inside, as well as being able to spring.

Paint Bulley
04-08-2001, 06:48 PM
what do you mean as well as being able to spring?

Also I want a pack that holds 2 guppies and one tank. what is the best.

thanks

It stretches. You will need a pack if you have a remote.

there is no such thing, i dont believe, as a 2 pod pack witha co2 spot. you need ot get a 4+1 pack 4 pods and a co2. i suggest the pmi b/c its innexpensive and nice product. dont get 32 degress everyones buckle breaks on second use

I learned one thing when I fell and messed up my knee ... If i'd been tethered to my marker with a remote, I'd probably have injured my back, cause after I fell, I rolled a couple of times ... I was able to release my marker and let it fall to the ground ... I wonder if I'd done that with a remote if I'd gotten tangled in the remote hose?

Splat Attack
04-09-2001, 03:01 PM
They arent that bad, it all depends on what you like though. Oh and I doubt that it would have tangeled you up like that. Well not bad anyway, and not enough to do any damage. It definitly wouldnt have tied you to anything, and your marker probably would have judt dragged behind you.

I'd go with a coil remote, stays tighter too you, plus looks better,I have not seem a 2+1 pack yet.I got a 4+1,Also have one that hold tank and one tube.On my side.In speedball sometime I pull the pack infront if I am not wearing a cup.I looks funny but let me tell you walking 5 steps hitting the ground puking isn't so It works.

Ya- remotes are good- but muck- most paintballers are coordinated enough not to roll down hills. J/k. And you don't need a pack for them- just duck-tape your tank to your chest, back, or butt.

MuckRaker
04-09-2001, 06:41 PM
Yes, well, I'm not most players, and I'm allergic to duct tape, so, I'll not be tethered to no tank ... just gimme a good drop forward for my 24 oz tank.

Take no offense Muck,

But i'm not an old guy that will trip over a trig and roll 20 ft. unless I want to.

Whoever showed the pic, of the redz pack, Thanks

The pictured pouch - - - -

Carry up to 280 rounds of paint and a 114ci N2 Tank in this pouch. Use your own belt or add a 2" belt to complete your pouch

I use CO2. 114ci N2 = what size C02 ?

thanks

I posted the pack, and any pack will hold up to a 20 oz tank, so i wouldnt go any bigger than that. You can if ya wanna though.

Jamez Bond

Redz and Rhino make those- but you have to find a store that sells them- they are'nt very popular- and they are hard to find.

It was a branch, not a twig, and I rolled 18.6 feet, not 20. Please get your facts straight. :P

Muck dont feel too bad,Last weekend we where in a woods game mostly rocks and a road between us.We came up on the there team to draw fire ,So the rest of our team could flank there weak side.Well we was hammering away and out of 6 of use me and another guy was left. They started to move up on us,and instead of hold our ground we fell back.I took off in a run and the next thing I knew, I was air born. The guys came up too me in the dead zone telling what a great move I made too not get hit.Knee looks like a round table pizza.

Drop Forward :)

simon woodstock
04-10-2001, 07:20 PM
drop forwards make your gun look real cool and remotes get caught on branches and such if you're playin the the woods, drop forwards balance your gun out the best.

well i have a shutter with a 12 oz. tank so i dont need a remote besides i never carry anything with me i dont play long games and if your gun is too heavy to carry then maybe you should get a smaller gun or go work out

Paint Bulley
04-10-2001, 07:46 PM
My gun isn't to heavy for me buddy, I can lift it just fine.

I just want to try paintballing with a remote. I think drop forwards are the dumbest looking things ever so I wanted to try something different.

04-10-2001, 07:58 PM
both have pros and cons but a drop forward will make your gun more compact and even it out, my experiences with remotes is that they get in the way

Splat Attack

I have never used a drop forward, but I think I will get one of the CP flame ones to use with or instead of my remote when it dosent wanna work.

Ok Homis dawgs- back to buissness. Remotes won't get hun up as often if you use a steel braided- And you have to learn to guid them around. I saw those flames drop fowards- SWEET! That is my 1st upgrade when I get my F-4. And I think drop-fowards look pretty cool- but you have to remember that I preffer an on-gun setup.

remots suck they make your harness weigh too much, dropforwards make your gun a lot easier to manuver also.

04-12-2001, 08:33 AM
remote is the best idea if u play back becauase it makes ur gun so much lighter and its only and extra 3lbs max on the pack

dawgs712
04-12-2001, 02:00 PM
i jist got my pmi remote-coiled and its awsome. my gun feels so light and it has slide check and quick disconnect. this means that there is a blue cap screw where the co2 goes in on the opposite side, if its not on, the co2 doesnt open up, when the game starts you screw it in and its ready to go. the quick disconnect is a system that you pull back on a little piece and the part under it disattaches (confusing i know, but tis really easy). the slide check is a piece that if its pushed forward, than you fire normally, but when you pull it back, one shot worth of co2 goes out, and no co2 enters the gun now. this measn that you can the disconnect qith quick disconnect and totally take apart the co2 only using up 1 shot-pretty cool huh?
