It teaches you that you need to stay in school, do well and get a good job to afford the sport. :P

Beyond that, teambuilding, communications, interpersonal skills, athleticism.

besides what everyone else said, if you tinker a lot with your guns and stuff, you might even learn a bit of physics ;)

CHARACTER: responsibilty (safety around markers), strategy, cooperation (meh, same as teamwork), respect, sportsmanship

PHYSICAL: reflexes, hand-eye, strength, endurance, steadiness

it also teaches the safe and smart uses of paintball guns (less vandals?) and gun safety in general.

The one word I have for paintball is "Speed"

What paintball teaches? Most of the good answers have already been posted, but I'll add on a bit.

1. Teamwork - in competitive paintball and even scenarios, teamwork is the #1 factor in winning. Individual skills help, but the best player in the world can't beat a good team working together.

2. Communication Skills - really a part of teamwork but worth a separate mention.

3. Physical Skills - Hand eye coordination for making those quick snapshots without taking the time to sight in on your target. Speed for making it between bunkers without getting shot. Agility to get into some of the body positions that give you the best shot without being so much of a target. Endurance to last through a day of tournaments or a long day of scenario.

4. Mechanical Skills - Working on your marker to keep it functioning at the highest level. Includes some electronics knowledge with the higher end markers. Pneumatic knowledge for how paintguns work.

5. Not necessarily something you learn, but something that paintball provides is an incredible opportunity for a father/son (uncle/nephew, aunt/neice, whatever) activity. It's one of the only sports where people of vast age differences can compete on an even level.

Good luck with your paper.
