Barrel swabs.....if a ball ever breaks inside the barrel what do you keep witrh yall to use? Or does it just not happen?
I have a viewloader one I use for my 98C just wondering if that will do or if I should get a battle swab or something....
Even though I have never figured out what the battle swabs are good for. Are you suppose to shove them down the barrel w/o taking it off? I always though that doing that would just put the paint deeper in the gun and screw it up even more. Or does that swab actually gett all the paint. On all swabs I have used the rubber ones and soft padded ones but always after taking the barrel off. The rubber ones just seem so much more practical if you are taking the barrel off.
So yah. I guess I could put this in the newbie forum and ask this....
How do I use the different kinds of barrel cleaners to get the best output for my input. Hopefully y'all know though.

battle swabs work great rarely do you get a break with EYES but you still get build up here and there plus i swab my gun out after every game n e way the swabs beat any pull through thing that you can use trust me ive forgot to turn on my vision once or twice
You use a battle swab AFTER you use a straight shot.
If I do break a ball, I'm going to straight shot my barrel, then use the swab.

Swabs don't get all the paint out so a squeegee is a must imo.

Most swabs dont. I have a pair of super-fine fuzzy swabs that do very well. I swab on the field, and then pull my bolt out and totally clean it at the staging area.

when you have to clean your barrel during a game what do you do?
Take the barrel off or what?
Or just play with the paint in there?

I jam a straight shot down that barrel, but if i'm in a real hurry i use the hand over barrel trick. Tip gun upside down and put hand over barrel bore. Dry fire alot then resume playing. Make sure there isn't a ball in the breech or your gun is closed bolt while doing this.

whats a straight shot? and you do it with the barrel on the gun? Doesnt that push paint into it?

Thick ones push paint back, which is then launched out with air pressure. Either that or you must clean it. Pull throughs are slow and get paint in the porting making you incredibly inaccurate.

It's spring loaded and the towel end pushes the squeegee vertically. Then you release it again and pull up. They are pretty nice but I'm a swab and squeegee guy. I use the swab alone for small breaks and usually both for big breaks.
i never really found enuogh time to striaght shot it and then swab it. or i never want to carry a straight shot and a swab on the feild. the sraight shot doesnt bend and its a mother to carry around. well i only chop about 1 or 2 times every two or three days of paintballing so i dont really carry anything at all most times. but if its a big important game i just carry a swab. genrally, if i swab my barrel, and then shoot it a few times, my J&J edge gets pretty acurate again.

so yall swab it with out taking the barrel off? Or do you take the barrel off in mid-game? This is my last question.
You dont have to take the barrel off, or atleast I dont.

K thanks guys for the info!!!!
that is the beuty of swabs. they fold in half and can be put in a pocket. when you want to use tehm, you whip them out, and jam them down the barrel and your done. (dont push to hard or you will break the panintball in the breech.) if you really want it clean use both sides of the swab. i would never take my barrel off in a speedball game ever. i would rather shoot with a totally dirty painted up barrel than take my barrel off (maybe trying to get under cover and shoot at the ground while cover the ports whith my hand so the paint gets on my hand and that help. or turn your gun pusidedown and shoot a few times. but i would never take my barrel off. mabe in a slow woodsball game. i mnea if you take your barrel off you are completely helpless. try shooting a gun without a barrel. the balls go like 10-20 feet, and i doubt they would break on a person. witha dirty barrel you have some chance of hitting the guy.
