Ya I've been playing for a couple months now and I was wondering...my friend keeps saying "adjust the velocity." What does that mean? I have a Spyder Viktor and acording to research tightening the screw in back of the bolt cover thing increases the velocity. But should I have it tight, or loose? What gives off a better shot? I have a 14" Smart Parts barrel and a 9oz. CO2

PLEASE HELP ME BOYS (and girls)

Do you have chronograph? Try to keep it around 270-280, and ALWAYS under 300.

Im new and Im not sure what that is my guess is it measures something and no i don't have access to that. What do you suggest?

A chronograph is a device that is used (in paintball) to measure how fast a paintball is traveling.

Go to an official field, andfind the red thing that everyone is by and shooting over. Do what they did, and look at the digital screen below your marker. A number with 3 digits should appear. if not, flip the switch to the right up and down a couple times, until "000" comes up on the screen. Shoot once, then read off the screen. Shoot over the thing two more times, reading the number that appears each time. Take the average of these three numbers, and thats how fast you are shooting (on average) if any one of your shots goes over 300 feet per second, you will hear a beep, and you should turn down your velocity.

It is not what gives a better shot, but more what gives a safer shot ;) .

Like said above, just take it to a store and ask for it to be chronographed. They probably won't charge you if it is a decent store.

(Coincidentally the 250-300fps range will also give the best shot)

I think its funny that 300 is considered to be such a magical number. the difference between 299 and 301 is almost undetectable without a chronograph (and many chronographs aren't actually that precise anyway) so just foloow the rules at whatever field you are at and you;; be fine.

if you and your friends play outlaw paintball have all your friends chip in a few bucks and pick up a hand held radar crono.there 50-70 online.you want the nice yellow ones.

And honestly a higher velocity isn't necessarily a good thing. I saw an analysis done once (by Tom Kaye) that showed that 270-300 fps is about the ideal speed for paintballs to minimize breaks and ensure consistency.

So you're proposing 209 or 301 should be the magical number? What's the pont?

Yeah, I shoot 270-280. If I'm pissed, I'll shoot 290-300 and bunker people. Safest is 260-280. Most fun, too.

In all honesty my post was not meant to help in any way, i was just in a funny mood and it seems like lots of people seem to be almost afraid of 300.

yep, those guys all said it, but remember, just because your gun is tuned to 290 one day, doesn't mean it stays that way. Chrono whenever you get fill, or just periodically throughout the day. Yikes! Spikes!
