1.Why do people insist the hit on thier goggle lens is from the last game?

2. Why to people pick paintballs off the ground only to cause them selfs down time?

3. Why to people say "I need to get more bullets"

Yeah my field has 14 woods fileds and 1 speedball field. We deal with a lot of noobs. In a way I love it because we get a lot of kids and I like to promote the sport to the next generation.
On the other hand you get some asses that come up and think they are gangsters.. These are the ones I can't stand.. I'll tell you what my job is harder that day so I have to keep on their *** with goggles down.

Well heres the answers to all of your questions and pondering...

They are n00bs they dont know any better....
They dont respect us or our jobs....
They think they know all, but they really know nothing....
They think they are cool....

If you get bonus balled way to much (like I have been over the years) start carrying a pistol, I recommend a sidekick semi short. When someone bonus balls you put um down...Over the course of a few days people will start talking and suddenly the refs get a whole lot more respect.

The better the ref you are the more you will get shot becasue you are in there instead of making calls from the side line.
But still there are retards out there that think its cool to shot us.. I used to carry a side arm but now I just ask them if they have a problem face to face.. It seems to work..


How funny it it when you take a group of newbies onto speedball and start they all go to the first bunker and long ball everyone lol .. 7 guys in one bunker.. too funny. If it's kids I just pick them up and move them to the next bunker.

why do refs hack on new players making them feel foolish and not want to return or get more involved in paintball?

why do refs keep on doing it when they obviously don't like refereeing?

i play walk on alot and i could give some fine examples of crappy inexperienced refs....but this thread is for refs isn't it?

Refs have a tough job, and better they complain about it here than out on the field where customers hear it.

Personally, I hate the cocky little tools who think they can smacktalk everyone else at the field, who are ALSO walk ons, and get away with it. So yep, as a ref I hate some people. Tell me you don't have your prejudices too...

because sometimes noobs are out there to be flashy instead of learn the sport. Some don't want you to even try to help them. Not all noobs but a lot are like that. You have been around for a while and you must have noticed that the sport has changed a lot. sometimes its about what can Mommy and daddy buy me next. Not for all noobs but some. So the refs get frustrated but for the most part we will always help out a noob. Oh and by the way an noob is someone that thinks they are all that just because they have a better marker than the guy next to them. A beginner is someone who wants to learn the sport. Calling someone a noob is the same as calling them a tool.

Nobody should make someone feel foolish and I have not seen anyone in this post state that they made fun of anyone to their face. The only place you could have gotten that from is were you work. You should take care of that internal problem.

I'll answer this question with a question? Since you are a head ref at 2 field and a NPPL and NCPA ref and have had 17 years of experience can you HONESTLY say that you have NEVER complained about a bad day while reffing? complained about the time you know a player shot you on purpose? Complained about the "noob" who is acting like an ***? complained about the group who can't leave ther goggles on?
Thats great you have been in the sport for 17 years and have are a head ref at two fields and are a tourney ref. But honestly there are some really good refs out there that have only been reffing for 2 months. Bottom line is were are all here to make sure that players leave with two eyes at the end of the day. These guys are just venting a little steam and having a conversation. If your insulted it's like TV........ Change the channel

haha, oh man, reminds me of my reffing days

i had a reffing pistol also. i would make sure the 'trouble' ones would see it and knwo what it was used for before matches. i only had to use it once or twice.

Honestly this year if some kid that isnt a new player lifts his mask more than once during the day....I am just going to tackle him a nice clean spear, or maybe just a nice hit that uproots the kid and slams him into the ground....just as long as he signed a waiver........

What would paintball be like if there never was war or conflict? What if we were all on the same team working towards a common goal of world peace? Would paintball de-evolve to group finger-painting in an open meadow, a happy blissful mass mural of rainbows and flowers where everybody wins in the end no matter which side of the field you started from? How would I sneak my paintball gun in to shoot all of these aforementioned finger-painters? Would they rise up to fight me, or just weep softly on their knees upon receiving my high velocity contribution of spherical paint?

That's the last time I ever reffed a woodlands game. Way too much time on my hands. :|
