K i'm hopefully gonna buy this shocker im just wondering if it is all good......

Good deel cause i need the tank and mask and such. Ok here is the package...

Here is the Shocker Sport 4x4...
Dye Sticky Grips
Air Assist (Really Helps!!)
12v Revvy (Comes with 2 new sets of batteries!)
20oz Co2 with On off
12" J&J one piece ceramic barrel
JT Spectra Flex 7 mask
basically everything you see in the pic minus the table.

The mask and revvy has been only used once
so those are basically brand new.

It sounds like a good deal to me. Only thing u might need is nitro tankd down the road. Good deal though.

Thats a domeswitch 4X4. If you do get it and get really brave you can solder a switch to the front board and make that gun into a select fire with full auto, and 3 shot burst. That looks like a 20oz tank. You can expect to get around 700 shots from that tank (I think). Try to get the original AA barrel if he still has it. They are hard to beat IMHO, but the J&J will shoot nice too.
Those model shocker do not come with a body filter, so there is a small possibility that the solenoids may be a bit dirty. If it shoots OK now, you can always buy yourself a filter pretty cheaply and install it yourself. I would guess a decent price on that setup to be $550-$600. There are a lot of used shockers out there at great prices. Good luck, they are great markers!

so what kinda stuff would i have to do with this marker after i buy it? Like ya maybe get a filter.

He doesn't have the stock barrel... :( but that is ok. Im planning on buy an equation pro ms system soon. ya thnx

If you want to turn that shocker into a super nice gun/dependable gun you could:

Get a filter. You can buy them from www.wermmods.com. That would be the first thing I would buy if I were going to run it on co2.

A new short regulator shroud and/or vertical reg mount to replace the front grip would be nice, but wouldn't do anything for performance.

If you are willing to spend the big bucks you could get a Glacier AT board (would give you a nice microswitch trigger, and the glaciers switch is adjustable. You would also have multiple fire modes with the glacier (full auto, sniper, response, turbo, burst)

A 68cu CO2 tank would also be nice. You would get over 1000 shots, and it balances better than a 20oz IMHO. You can sometimes find them used for less than $75.

Depending on the markers condition, a Shocker or Max-Flow rebuild kit may be in order (around $25 and $15 respectively). The only thing that can really go bad, that is expensive to replace is the solenoids. Make sure they are good,(they should click when you pull the trigger, and not leak) and you should have a dependable marker.

what is the dealio with the rebuild kits? what are they and what do they do?

If i was planning to go hpa soon would it still be worth it to get a filter?

have there been any changes in the last couple years to the shockers? this is a '99 so i hope all is fine on it.

The rebuild kits contain all the orings to completely rebuild your shocker, or your regulator. The reg is usually the first to need a rebuild. You will see probs when its time for a rebuild. The reg may beat down, leak, or vibrate.
The new shockers have the same internals except for the circuit board and trigger. That shocker has a Domeswitch board. It refers to they type of switch used to fire the gun. Domeswitches are the the type buttons you would find inside a vcr or cd player that activate when you push the big buttons outside. The new shocker come with a leverswitch (like used in angels, bushmasters, matrix). Both triggers can be made nice, but the leverswitch is easier to shoot fast with.
The new shocker also come with a different shroud on the regulator. It is shorter, but works the same way. New shockers are also a bit lighter than older ones due to the extra material that has been milled from the body. They still shoot with the same accuracy, and consistency, and sound the same.

so what kinds of disadvantages would i see from using a domeswitch board?

Can i upgrade it at all so that i can get as fast as a newer shocker?

thanks for all your help

There is nothing bad about a DS (domeswitch) trigger, its just that most folks prefer a LS (leverswitch). You can upgrade later. You could buy a new LS board from smartpartss, or a glacier board from kennesaw mountain. You would have to change your trigger to go to a LS board, but the glacier is designed to work with a domeswitch trigger. The DS and LS triggers are similar but the domeswitch trigger has a hump on the back to activate the domeswitch. I have converted a few DS boards into LS boards for people. I have a page of instructions here: http://home.naxs.com/nberry4/Shocker%20Trigger%20Job/Shocker%20lever%20switch%20trigger%20job.htm

If you really wanted to go all out, you could get a hyperframe from hypersportworks.com They are supposedly great triggers, that come with a complete set of firemodes. Expensive though.

k thanks a whole bunch archer99 you been a real help.

Back to my above question: Would a filer still be a needed upgrade if i was gonna go to Hpa in the next few months?

And if the solenoids are dirty can they be 'cleaned' per se?

Ya sw33t. I think i would go get a blade trigger sometime... maybe and i-frame but i dont see the bid hype about them

With HPA you would probably not need it right away, but the filter still wouldn't be a bad idea if you were going to order something else and wouldn't have to pay $6-$10 shipping on a $9 filter. Smart Parts considers the filter important enough to include it in all the new shockers. No filter was one of the reasons shockers started getting a bad reputation. People were using dirty co2 with no filter and clogging the solenoids.

The solenoids can be cleaned, but the real problem is damage to the microscopic orings inside (the shocker rebuild kit does not include these orings). You can take a look at the solenoids here:

http://cgbcustoms.homestead.com/ShockerTech2.html

The orings are on the valve and you can get an idea about how small they are. The valve would fit inside a soda straw easy!
