View Full Version : winter paintballs
What, In everyones opinion, is the best paintball to use in very cold weather with a stock barrel on a sts? Most important factor being barrel breaks.
I don't care if it don't always break on the target, as long as it don't break in the barrel.

Diablos winter blaze. Diablo makes very nice paint to shoot and there winter paint is just as nice as the normal stuff. It just has a little thicker shell.

My field uses Kick'n Paintballs with a winterfill this time of year. They shot well when they didnt chop all over the place in my stock cocker. I dont think it was the balls though. Mebbe the paint to barrel match and the horrible stock barrel. Good balls. good looking balls.

if your chopping balls than your timing is off but if they where braking in the barrle than the paint was too big for your barrle

well most of the winter balls are good.
PMI has some, Diablo has some. They put alittle bit of anti-freeze in them to keep them going. Works great.

The idea behind a winter ball is not the paint...The paint is oil which has to sit out for a very long time to freeze. Its the shell. They add stuff to the shell to make it less brittle and less prone to breaks from the cold weather. I dont think they change the paint fill much. They might make it a LITTLE thicker.

It dosen't really matter what paint you get becuase any kind of paint will freeze when it is 32 degrees or below. Your best choice will be Diablo.

Tahts not true. Water freezes. The paint is not water. It has an oil base. All liquids freeze at a different temp. Just becuz its 32* dont mean the paintball is going to go through you when it hits you.

Does Diablo's winter blaze have white fill? I used some Blaze that was blue/white shell with a white fill. Do they make this? Where do they sell it?
I would like to try some :)
I can't find Diablo winter balls. There web site doesn't even mention them.

Well, if your using CO2 in the winter than forget it. CO2 will freeze at anything below 40 degrees. It then really dosen't matter what paint you use because the CO2 will shoot the balls at such a weird angle that the balls will break. Keep your paint and gun in your car until you are absolutley ready to play.

CO2 will not freeze it will just turn to liquid but not at 40 degrees. it takes alot colder than that to turn it to liquid, but this is what an expansion chamber is for to make sure no liquid CO2 gets into the gun. if your using compressed air or nitro then it takes alot colder weather to turn it to liquid. nitrogen doesnt liquify until
-269 degrees Celsius.
