Just because they Timmy and Spyder have similar styles in body doesn't make them the same. Internally they are not the same, though a Spyder could be converted to the level of a classic Timmy w/ a lot of work.
So it's a $1500 Spyder? Good theory there, considering it looks nothing like a Spyder, shoots nothing like a Spyder, and feels nothing like a Spyder.

im drunk so bare with me.
i shoot my speed because im a poor college student that still wants to practice every weekend. Don't try to turn this into a locker room "my weeny is bigger!!!" contest.
I've owned a few Timmys, and hell I built a GZ from scratch. they're not that great. You don't get what you pay for. Sure, they're fast but they're also poorly manufactured. They just flat out feel CHEAP.
i don't care if thousands of "sick ballers" (you dweeb) shoot them. millions of people buy limp bizkit albums. does that make them a good band? No. The majority isn't always right.
The player makes the gun juvey. you should know that. People can "own" with any gun.

I used to think Vikings were pretty nice, except for their weight and looks. But then I was out at the field today, and one of my friend's Vikings just...exploded. People were making fun of him asking how he could possibly break it, but somehow the Solenoid blew. He was already having problems with it before that, but I didn't get to the field until a few minutes before the solenoid blew.
He has been trying to sell it, but he can't find a buyer. Now it's broken.

Very true, but you have to understand the situation. I've seen Timmies break, but when I take a look at them I've found out that they haven't been cleaned and lubed properly. I baby my Timmy to death, and even after Xball practices and lots of games, it still hasn't gone down on me. Brady is the same way with his Viking. He does everything he needs to to maintain it, but all of a sudden it just...went bad. I think Vikings are good guns, but I can't stand how everyone thinks that they're the holy grail of paintball. Sure, they're fast and efficient, but you can say the same thing for other guns. AKA has good customer service, but so does BLAST, Dye, Planet Eclipse, WDP, and other companies. Vikings are significantly heavier than most high end guns, and their looks are definitely subpar. If that doesn't bother you, that's fine. But it does bother me, and it bothers Brady that he has a heavy gun that looks bad in his opinion.
They're great guns, but they're not something to sell your soul for.
BTW - I never said they suck, and I never will say they suck. Let's make sure we keep that straight.

I agree with STO, I've seen a few probs with Vikings, every gun has something wrong with it. Lots of the problems are user-induced on most guns. If you don't know how to, don't try to fix it. Using a gun for a day and then throwing in your bag for 6 weeks without cleaning is a classic symptom. I see it all the time. To me at least its vice-versa, I hear people talk about timmys where I am like they were the "Holy Grail"

ok back to the subject.
i miss VM-68s.. sweet sweet markers.. and if you ran out of paint, you could just club your opponent with this beast. The marker alone weighed close to 6 pounds.
I miss the alley cat.. I dont miss the alley cat 2, cuz i just got one today! It was a ICD marker made specifically for NPS , they have a kool cat milled intothe gun body.
The .68 special.. Tippman's semi that required a SIPHON (not anti-siphon) tank, it ran on liquid c02
The AGD Sidearm.. Soo sweet, a semi auto pistol, 12 gram powered , but it was all in a tight little mag package.
The hammer and hammer 2 pump guns.. The innovative velocity adjustment located inside the bolt was too sweet, and only required a phillips head screw driver.
I still own my hammer2 pump, its a workhorse, my original gun over 12 years old and still works like a champ.
i think most of all , i miss markers being made like the hammer series.

Another Great marker, I have one of those as well SN#0185
There are 2 versions of the SL-68 II, the early produced one's and the later produced one's...
The way to tell is the later produced one's had a safety built into the handgrip, and they have the anti-doublefeed. They early one's like mine, didn't have the safety, or the anti double feed.
By the way, if you want to improve the performance of that SL-68 II. Countypaintball.com still carry J&J Ceramic Barrels for them. They improve the performance of the pump drastically!

Favorite discontinued semi:
Montneel Z1/Mega Z
Bulletproof, shot liquid so you could use it in any weather, and they looked cool too. (Like the 68 Special, you get those cool puffs of co2 every time you shot one). I've got 3 and am always on the lookout for more.
Favorite discontinued pump:
Sterling. Parts are scarce, quality varied depending on when you got them, and they're British... but I still love'em. You barely ever see any, which is part of the appeal. I've seen more LAPCO pumps around lately than I have Sterlings. The only thing they needed was a ball detent, and you can still get them from Palmer's. (Honorable Mention to the AGD pump kit - even though the mag isn't discontinued. It's only downside besides the scarcity is the lack of an autotrigger).
