Whats up? I just got my new Impy this past week. I am very excited about it and can't wait to take it to the field in a week or so. But first I want to get a couple of small upgrades for it including a bolt. I was doing some searching and read some reviews and have come to the conclusion that the NDZ Equalizer bolt is the best choice. But there are several different length Equlizer bolts. Is there a difference in preformence depending on the length of the bolt? Which length would be the best choice? I am very new to the Impulse so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

BTW, I am also getting a new feedneck (any suggestions? I was thinking about the Lapco...), Tapeworm, and trigger. Hopefully I can get them all within the next week or two.

ok. tapeworm and trigger are good choices for first upgrades. good feed necks are ND no rise clamping, CCM, i dont know much about the lapco, extreme rage is alright by me (i have one on my piranha EVO and it seems to work fine), the new SP one looks good. the lenght of the bolt really doesnt matter all that much. its mostly just preference. they just made shorty bolts for strange milling or just to lower weight (the weight loss is so tiny though. from what i know it is about 70 grains, which is really not very much at all. a titanium bolt pin is about 100 grains lighter than the stock, so i sapose if you really wanted to perfectly balance your internals 70 grains could make a difference. however, i do think that getting a delrin bolt could cause problems. this is my experience. i got my new bolt with stock internals. the bolt was so light it made by interlas so light that nomatter what pressure or what dwell setting i could not get my velocity over 250. but, every gun is different. other ppl in this forum have said thattehir bolt with stock internals worked fine. so it might happen it might not.

Ive had my Impulse for almost a year now, and im totally satisfied. Im not sure about the stainless hammer, or the titanium hammer, but the tech support at smartparts told me that if i wanted to upgrade my bolt, i should up grade my hammer with it. So i bought the brass-hammer assembly with the strange bolt which is shorter than the stock bolt. The reason that was for getting this was i had her full out ballz to to the wall in a tournement and i seared my piston on the very top thread that screws into my hammer. Talk about a bummer... Anyway hope you find what youre looking for and are satisfied.

Alright, thanks for the advice (and thanks to FOM for your PM). I just ordered the NDZ Equalizer bolt (right here (http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=sMHicAID6-zi4kPwtyIi2AilTyx7o62swbQ=?ProductID=Y7bAqArbRhoAA AD%2eQuKu9Lt9)), and it should arrive sometime this week. I'm also planning to go out on Wednesday to get a Tapeworm and clamping feedneck of some sort (I'll see what the shop has).

Another quick question...

When you turn your Impulse off after setting the dwell and stuff, does the dwell stay at what you set it at when it is turned back on or do you have to set it again? (Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm trying to learn all I can about this gun).

yes, youre dwell setting will stay the same, it will only change if you change it, as far as i know. Just make sure you know what youre getting and that its what you want. I have a friend that had gotten an Impy. just after me and he hasent even had to get vision, he never chopps a ball...I chopped before i had vision...but thats the way it is.

Bolts: ND Eq. bolts are all the same, the length changes nothing in performance. Get the one that you prefer.
Feednecks: ND clamper is great. The new SP Q-lock is probably the best out there in my opinion, quick adjustment and the easiest way to disengage the kung fu grip that thing holds the marker with.
Sniper 15, don't you wish it were as easy as an autococker?

Thanks for the replies. I ended up getting a NDZ EQ bolt (the same size as the stock bolt), Tapeworm, and Chipley clamping low-rise. With my bolt and Tapeworm, should I set my input pressure to somewhere around 150? (I'm waiting to get out to the field to properly set my pressure/dwell).

i would go around 180. you still have mostly stock internals (well im not sure, dont you?). if your still running stock valve then i would put it higher than 150 just to get better efficency.

My first upgrade on my Impulse 2k4 was the NDZ bolt and Blade Trigger. My gun worked fine at 180 psi. For some reason, i think it kicked way less than the current setup i have now.

The CCM Feedneck is awesome. Good buy buddy!
